So my CHI flat iron fell on the floor and broke...

Any idea what my options are?

It fell and one of the plates came separated off the iron legs. If there is a way to repair it, I would like to. I got it for a steal off of this forum, for only $50 over two years ago. I do prefer roller setting for healthy hair, but since my hair is short, it's just not worth the hassle sometimes.

If I have to replace the iron, are there any favorites on this site now since it's been so long since I've been reading about flat irons :) Maxiglide, for instance, any others?

Wow, and I was complaining because this evening my Sedu dropped onto the floor and the adapter piece cracked. I feel lucky I didnt break a plate!

I love, and recommend, my sedu, but I am curious to see how a Maxiglide would works

I also say sedu. Since I got my sedu I no longer go to the salon to get my hair straight. IMO it's worth every penny.

Aaaw, sorry that happened to you Janei,, ( thats why i keep spares around:grin:),, if you dont go for a new CHI ( ebay has them cheap i think),Id suggest Sedu,, works BEAUTIFULLY, very different feel from CHI, its much lighter but makes the hair really silky, itw wonderful..

Damn! I've never heard of that iron before! And just like that, I'm out of touch with the latest and greatest. I'll have to go research the price, shortly after I buy my TiVo ;)

I whole-heartedly recommend the Sedu as well. I can get my hair super straight with it ... like I went to the salon.

That sux
Doesn't it come with a warranty?
Probably doesn't cover breakage huh?
So... get a new one off ebay or amazon...
it's way cheaper than any other sites/stores.

I will get a new flat iron soon!

Hey, I read a caveat about the sedu flat iron on some website... they said not to flat iron wet / damp hair. This may seem like common sense, but I do occasionally go ahead and flat iron my hair even though it's not completely dry. I try to get as much as possible but some areas are still wet or damp. Do users really experience severe damage like burned hair, permanent damage, etc if the hair is flat ironed damp? Would like to know before dropping $140 on a product and then misusing it and ending up worse off than before I bought it...

I've never used the iron on wet or damp hair but from what I've read when you flat iron hair that is wet or damp you are heating the water inside the cuticle which can cause it to bubble and possibly crack.
