So I used to have thick hair...

I am going through the same thing. My hair used to be very thick. People would always compliemnt me on it and then somewhere down the line it got thinner. I think it's slowly getting it's thickness back though.

I think if we had thick hair in the past we should be able to get it again. This is what I've been trying to do:

to grow thicker hair
scalp massages
eat better
get more exercise and sleep
drink lots of water

to maintain thick ends and prevent them from thinning
moisturize daily
DC weekly
little to no heat
minimize combing

HTH!
and make sure your stylist is not overlapping your relaxer because that can thin your ends out also.

Maybe you should think back and try to see if anything changed...with your hair regimine or something. Maybe even something that triggered emotional stress? I read on here that Jamaican black castor oil will thicken up your hair, but I never tried it myself.

i agree with locabouthair esp little to no heat and minimising combing. Low manipulation, protective styles, stretching relaxers and making sure hair isn't overprocessed when you relax.

Is there anyway to get it thick again?

there are many women here who testify to using Castor oil and seeing an improvement on the thickness of their hair.

I myself used haitian castor oil in the past. My hair became so thick, i had to quit using it cuz it became a bit untameable!!

But give it a try...and perhaps make a search for it ?

They say texlaxing makes your hair thicker! I think this year I am going to give this method a try...

I agree, I have been texlaxing for a little over a year now and I can definitely see a difference in the thickness of my hair. Before texlaxing, I was going to the Dominican salon and they were putting a super relaxer on me which was getting my hair super straight but also making my hair thin out. Even going back to a regular relaxer made a difference, but when I compare my texlaxed half to my straight-relaxed half I can definitely see a difference.

Also, my strands are fairly fine/thin and I think that is another reason texlaxing has worked for me when other people can maintain thickness with straight-relaxing

I agree that texlaxing does make the hair appear thicker. Stretchiing the relaxers also thicken the hair.:yep:

Other ways to thicken the hair are by taking vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid) or drinking 100% carrot juice, which also contains B5 and works a little faster.
