Hey ladies. This is my first post being that I've been lurking around her for quite sometime.
So this weekend I decided that I was tired of he brittle mess atop my head so my husband and I took the clippers and and cut it all off. I feel so much better!!! I'm so happy to start off fresh.
My questions is what would be the the best regimen for my hair even though I barely have any? Also, to the ladies who have had their hair this low how long did it take to see growth? For now I'm rocking the wig I made but I can't wait for my hair to start growing again.

Can't wait to see a photo!!

Welcome! When I saw the title of your thread I thought that you meant you went without panties. In which case I would NOT need to see pictures.

Congrats on your your really big chop, and hope you get good progress and results. Hope you rock a TWA, they are so easy to care for as long as you keep them moisturized.

good luck on your new hair journey!

wishing u the best of luck....hoping u get a cute ol fro soon....i saw one today and was drooooling...

Anyway make sure you use a gentle shampoo and DC

i know the feeling! i did a big chop too last December because i got tired of the breakage from excessive heat and permanent color. Natural hair is fun, enjoy your journey!

Wow, you're bold! Takes a lot of courage to cut your hair like that. Good for you.
To answer you question, I don't think it will take that long to get a TWA, but to get to nape length might take a while.

Wow! That did take some guts! I did that once when I was in college the first time around and it was liberating! I loved it and I hope you can have fun with it too. It is sooo easy to care for at that stage. My fav product back then was ORS Olive oil moisturizer. The more I put on, the curlier it got. I loved it!

Hi nikki: Congratulations on your decision!

At this point, I wouldn't do much other than 1 or 2 weekly co-washes and keep it moisturized. Hopefully, you have some shea butter or castor oil on-hand. You'll be amazed at how quickly your hair grows.

Perhaps your DH could give you a scalp massage? http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=330195

Even if you don't share them, you should take photos to chart your progress.

ETA: Not sure if you've been natural before...just know that natural hair requires patience. There will be times when you'll want to throw in the towel - don't be discouraged.

Congrats! I know the liberating feeling (I've been getting the urge to do it again myself :look:)

I can say that when I did it, it was August and I had nothing to work with. By October I was already wearing a scarf as a headband so I'd say I probably had an inch of growth. Like somebody else said, it's easy to get frustrated at first (especially if you've never been natural before) but hang in there and it will be so worth it!

I say the best thing to do if find a good moisturizer and use it often. Natural hair epsecially dries out very easily and the ends can be a mess, so pay special attention to your ends.

Thanks so much for all your encouragement. I still can't believe I actually did it. I told one of my 8 year old daycare girls that I shaved my head and she said" So Mr. T has to wake up to a bald head every morning"
I know I won't wear my hair out for awhile because I'm not that comfortable with it yet. Thanks again ladies!

Congrats!! Take pix even if you're not sharing them with us. This way you'll have a nice marker of how far you've come. Moisturize and moisturize is the best advice I can give!
