I guess this is as "straight" as my hair will get

This is my 3rd time trying to straighten my hair since I've been natural. I guess it's not in the cards for me! My hair comes out super fluffy and wispy and looks more full and huge instead of smooth and sleek. And of course it's not showing my true length! When I wear a twistout, I can stretch my hair and it's creeping up on BSL. Ha! You'd never know or believe it judging by these pics! (and I apologize in advance for the quality- I used both my phone and my camera ))

here's a recent curly shot

this is my hair divided into 4 sections, combed out (I put in 4 twists to help stretch before blow drying; it was mostly air dried)

my "straight" hair

I QUIT!!!! :lachen:I don't know how you other natural ladies do it. I know my roots aren't super straight and even though I did it in very small sections, it took me just over an hr to do my whole head. Ugh Idk....I'm afraid to try again.

your hair looks great! maybe you just need to embrace your kinks and your textured straight look.

but if there is a will there is a way....:look:

at least you know your hair will revert! my natural hair has yet to look right after flat ironing. Have you tried deep conditioning before flat ironing? They say that's the trick.

Thanks ladies. I actually did DC before flat ironing. I washed my hair with GF sleek and shine, deep conditioned w/Joico Moisture Recovery treatment balm (with heat). When I finsihed deep conditioning, I separated my hair into 4 sections and made 4 large twists usign Tresemme smooth and silky conditoner.

I left it to air dry (or nearly air dry as my hair takes FOREVER to dry) over night. Today I just threw on a wig and left the twists underneath. I had a half day at work today so I did the rest of the process when I got home.

I undid each twist and worked on one section at a time: lightly combing through for any extra tangles and blow dried on a high setting (warm not hot). I used BTZ heat protectant as I blow dried each section and I thought I was using a good amount of tension while doing so lol.

After blow drying I applied about 2 pumps of PM super skinny serum to each of my 4 sections of hair and start flat ironing in very small sections (maybe not small enough?) using my pink GHD iron.

:perplexed:drunk: Oh well. It's not biggie. I can see how much hair I really have now that it's straightened. I really don't mind that it looks full. Its just so darn wispy it kinda takes on a frizzy look. But whatevs...it's all good! I guess this is how my fine hair rolls. I seriously don't recall it being so wispy when relaxed. But I'm good with it. I actually want to go jump in the shower and bring back my curls!

But I'm going to try to see how long this look will last. Thanks for the comments, tips and links!
