I did a rollerset for the first time since I started this journey in 2007.
I went to a DR salon and requested the grey rollers with no blowdrying or wrapping. The midshaft came out straight and the ends as well (for the most part) but the roots remained kinky and of course dry.

I don't like combing my hair when the roots are wiry and tangled and the rest is smoother. This means that it sounds like its breaking when I do comb the area close to my scalp :nono: I'll have to apply a non water-based product to that area to soften. I much prefer water based products but of course this means reversion.

My roots are much straighter when I blowdry it vs. rollerset. But This year I don't want to do much of that as my year end goal is to do a silky press. I learned from last year that too much blowdrying and flatironing is not good for my hair. And by too much I mean from April to September, I blowdryed maybe 3 times max and flat ironed 2. I have heat damaged trands in the front as you can see. This is also after a couple of protein treatments.

The braided side twists pic, I LOVED. This pic was taken about 3 weeks after the hair do, sorry. But it was flat twisted from the right side going to the left and stopped at the top and finished with single twists on the left side. Sexxxx-ay!

The other pics are my boring flat twist bun that I also love.

In any case nothing much going on with this mane of mine just slow growing to Full WL and increasing my trims. I think this is key for me. Might try some Nioxin vits.

HHG!

Ooooo I like that flat twist bun!

I wish I had a hood dryer so I could try a roller set. I tried to air dry a couple but a day and a half later they still weren't dry >_<

Super, super cute styles!!! Yeah, those Dominican blowouts can wreak havoc on your roots...
