Slip slidin\' away!

Is there anything I can do to help my scarves to stay on through the night? I always wake up with the things on the floor beside the bed or my kid is laying on it some mornings. I would rather use a scarf than a pillowcase, becasue it keeps my hair in place. I currently have some extensive cornrows in and want to keep them for a while, but I keep waking up unprotected!!! Help me.

Re: Slip slidin\' away!

A drawstring bonnet is a good idea or try a doo rag over your satin scarf. I think anything that can be pulled and tightened over the satin would help. I usually use bobby pins to secure my scarf to my hair, but I don't know if that will work since you have cornrows.

Re: Slip slidin\' away!

I love my drawstring satin bonnets. They don't come off at night (well, neither do my satin scarfs).

Re: Slip slidin\' away!

I second the idea of a doo-rag since it can be tied tighter and totally modls to the shape of your head.

Another vote for the doo-rag! It keeps my hair perfectly tucked away and tied down.

Re: Slip slidin\' away! - Please don\'t try...

I had this same problem over a year ago, and I decided to put a large bobby pin on each side - at the temple. Although the scarf stayed on, in about 2 months, I had balding temples. I know, I know, it was a brilliant thing to do!

So please don't try that!!! I now rely on my silk/satin pillowcases!

Re: Slip slidin\' away!

I do both. The satin against satin just glides instead of rubbing and pulling, so the satin scarf stays on. If for some reason it does come off I don't worry because of the satin pillow case(my backup). But since I started doing both the satin scarf stays on.
