capsules and start taking bamboo instead, i opened 25 capsules and put them in a bowl, then opened 4 msm caps and put them in the same bowl. i added hot water and made it into a paste, (it looked like henna paste). then i applied it ti my hair for about 2-5 minutes and got in the shower and rinsed it all out. then conditioned as usual. my hair came out so unbelievably soft and manageable. i think i'll do it again until all of the horsetail caps are gone.

WOW!! That is amazing. Hmmm...I may try that one day. Why did you stop taking your horsetail pills? Side effects?

ETA: I have noticed that a few ladies who take horsetail have doubled the dosage this may have something to do with the side effects. I have only taken 1 tablet faithfully everyday and experienced no side effects. There is also a dosage of horsetail extract in my hair oil as well as in my Futurebiotics vitamins so I try not to overdue things.

i generally co-wash everyday sometimes twice a day. i make sure that my hair is miost. i use miss key 10en1 super rinse and henna queen cinnamon conditioner. after rinsing, i apply organic root stimulator olive oil (cream not in the bottle.) and pick and style as usual. that's i also take lots of vitamins that i'm trying to cut down on. you can get the bamboo capsules from www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/browse/sku_detail.jsp?id=SO-2013 hth. :D

*raising hand* Oh yes, I am one of those guilty of this. :p Since I doubled my horsetail intake, I started experiencing very dry, flaky, itchy skin.... on my back, neck, arms, breast, and abdomen. It totally counteracted the effects of the Flaxseed, which had been so moisturizing and nourishing for my skin. It was weird and disturbing. :perplexed So Ive seen decreased it to one capusle per day, and will see how this goes for the next few weeks. If these skin problems persist I will discontinue altogether. There is no amount of hair growth or thickness in the world that is worth sacraficing my soft, silky, supple skin!

Girl you have me CRACKING UP OVER HERE!! That is sooooooooo unattractive! I almost chocked on my grape juice. :lachen: I COMPLETLY understand you on that though! I HATE rough , flaky skin. But seriously you are taking the Futurebiotics like me which also has horsetail in it so we dont need to up the full dosage of the horsetail because we are already getting a HEAVY shot of it. I also have horsetail in my Doo Gro Hair Oil that I use to oil my scalp as well so Im getting it all over the place with no weird effects. The only vitamin that you are taking that Im not taking is the Biotin though...maybe the horsetail and Biotin arent getting along well. Biotin broke my face out like an old pizza pie .....it works for my mother though.

Yeah you are so right!!! With the horsetail already in my hair vitamins, i didnt need to go that extra route. Girl, you know sometimes you just get a good thing, and you take it too far and end up overdoing it. But dude, I blame YOU and those durn "Before" and "After" pics that had everyone jumping on the horsetail bandwagon overnight. :lachen:But seriously though.... yeah, im hoping my skin returns to normal since I've decreased my dosage back to 500 mg. I sure hope its not related to the Biotin, because i am loving this Biotin!!! Its a real keeper for me. :D

I think (because you have to represent for the fine haired sisters and let us know that waist length hair is achievable! ) now that you've decreased the horsetail intake it should clear things up for you. I've been peeking in on that PP Biotin and Im so tempted to take it but Im SCARED. I know it could have been due to the fact that I was taking an off brand from Target but I PURPOSELY went on vacation for a week when my face broke out because I REFUSED to be training to a room full of people with my face like that. Matter of fact I'm SURE it was the brand. I bought my mother the PP brand and her hair is thanking her for it daily. She didnt do too well with the horsetail though....she called me telling me she didnt need anything else increasing her bladder :lachen: . Privating you on the side...I just realized how I remember you! LOL

Girl go ahead and get that Biotin! I was doing some research and discovered that, unlike Horsetail, there are no adverse effects to excess Biotin in the system. It is another water-soluble vitamin that will just be excreted out thru the urine if you take too much.

In terms of breaking out.... when I initially began the Biotin, I had a facial breakout. It wasnt anything drastic, but i definitely had a good splattering of pimples across my face. I usually only get 1 or 2 pimples around my cycle, but this was definitely caused by the Biotin. However, I started out w/a low dosage and then gradually increased. THe pimples disappeared after a couple of weeks, and now my face is smooth and blemish free again! So i definitely think once the breakout passes, your skin will go back to normal. :)

i bought the puritan's pride biotin (5000mcg) a while ago and it broke my face out like nobody's business, but i took gnc biotin (2500mcg) and it was okay.now i take megabiotin (7500 mcg) by cardiovascular research ltd. from vitaminshoppe.com and i haven't had one break-out. good-luck to all and happy hair growing.
