Since Hesh Powders Are Contaminated...

Where are all you ladies buying your Ayurveda oils and powders? I'm going to be researching more on how to incorporate Ayurveda products in my hair and on my skin. Any recommendations will be appreciated!

The Indian grocer near me carries another brand called Superior if you are shopping at the Indian grocers in Long Island. If you are ordering online I believe that ayurnatural carries the Superior brand.

i think the upc code is to identify the type of product...so all boxes of shikakai would have the same upc code, but they would have varying batch numbers.

I don't know side effects. It was stated that there were rat feces in it. That just made me throw all my Hesh powders away.

I recall someone posting these recall but I just recently acquired both of these powders free and although the user never used them and neither do I, didn't think about checking upc. Both powders trash!

I think it's only that batch. My UPC is the same but I have a different batch.

I've been using the shikakai powder since I purchased it early last year and haven't had any adverse effects. In fact, my shikakai mix is our primary poo for both me and my hubby and he uses it 2-3 times per week.

I too am looking to incorporate ayurvedic techniques later this year, but am wondering the difference b/w using powdered herbs vs the oil form....like is amla powder better than amla oil or vice versa? I'll be watchin this thread for other advice..thanks ddtexlaxed

Here's an organic site. I've odered from them before, love it. It's not finely ground though...my only complaint.

I usually order my cassia and henna from hennaking.com. I always receive my order within a few days - a week. I've ordered Amla on Amazon and recently ordered a large quantity of BAQ henna.

I'll definitely look into some of the site posted to see how they compare. Thanks ladies!

I'm not sure about the differences. I just enjoy having the original source (powder) and making my own poos, condishes and oils. I'll be interested as well, to hear what others have to say about that.

They didnt find rat feces in the products but bacteria found in unsanitary conditions. I know both are bad but that link listed above explains more clearly any risks. Luckily so far no one has had an adverse reaction. But its best to toss any of the products mentioned above.

I've been using the powders without any issues, not the same batch number of course. Haven't heard anything else negative about these powders.

My shikakai is by supreme and my Aritha is hesh...im surely about to toss it...Thank God I hadn't used it yet! My batch was manufactured March 2009 and it expires February 2012, fine time to discover that its contaminated!
