Simple (& Attractive) Hair Routines?

I ask this as I sit under the dryer after an hour worth of rollersetting. I anticipate I'll be under here for at least another hour.

Just this morning, I was sporting my chin-length hair pulled back after a CW in the shower. I love the simplicity of it...and the fact that I haven't had to worry about my hair during the last couple of weeks of heavy rain here.

But I'm a bit self-conscious about the style itself. It's not a real bun. It's not even a real french-roll. It looks a bit unkept after a long day of work.

So, what else is out there?

I'm tired of braids.

Phony-buns are out as I'm self-conscious and worried about them falling and blending...and the combs break my hair.

I just need something to carry me over while I obtain 6 inches, which should be enough for a real bun and/or french-roll.

Any suggestions?

eta: Maybe I can go back to bimonthly washings...sometimes I even went for 3 weeks. It's the rollersetting and chi-ing that I can't stand to do too often. It hurts my hair and my aspirations.

Have you tried wet wrapping your hair? Once you get it right it comes out silk smooth and is very simple and uses no heat. You can also use the scarf method. If you want to do a bun you can use a donut and cover it with hair (synthetic or real depending on your choice) and then just wrap your hair over so it blends. You can do this until your hair can be in a bun by itself.

Here is the link to a fotki that has instructions on the donut with the hair bun: http://public.fotki.com/dontspeakdefeat/how_to_do_various/how_to_make_a_bun/

Good Luck!

Do a search on posts by Eclipse... She grew her chin length hair really fast by washing and conditioning daily and using Surge and oil in her hair. HTH!

I use a fall which is referred to as an instant weave. They are very good for protective styles and I went from a couple of inches past shoulder to brastrap.

HI, you could try doing a simple french twist, moisturizing your ends with your leave in and tuck in with a pretty, wide tooth french twist comb (loads of them on ebay!).

That way you'll have a pretty style that you can take down to sleep, and still have little manipulation.

Thanks for the advice guys.

I'm definitely going to look up Eclipse.

And Softresses, what french twist combs are you talking about. I think I have a mental picture of them, but how do you use them? I usually use hair pins for my faux-frenchrolls.

The French combs are long and shaped kind of curved. They look like this:

Many don't have sharp seems, but if you get one that does, sand down the seems with a little fine sandpaper.

Thanks girly. I just bought one today...I'll experiment first w/ my rollerset, then maybe move back to the CWed hair :)

Cool! Just remember to sand down any rough edges or seems on the comb and to push it in gently and loosely. You don't want to tear up any of your hair. These are so quick and easy to use. I hope you like them.
