Silkies Saran Wrap treatment

I was reading some old posts and someone mentioned doing this after a rollerset. Does anyone know what this is? Thanks!

My stylist does this after my roller sets and I now I do it too. She removes the rollers, wraps my hair and then wrap my hair in saran wrap. I then get under the dryer on low for about 10 - 15 mins. To be honest I have never asked her why she does it. I just know the results are nice.

Hmm I wonder what the saran wrap does?? Does she blow out the roots?

Nope! But then again she wouldn't have to cause I only go to her for touch ups and of course my new growth is straight. Next time I see her I'm going to ask her what this does and why it works so well. I will say I do it at home and it comes out great then too.

I have seen black salons do this instead of using the blowdryer and brush.

They took out my rollers then wrapped my hair and put a wrap around it, then sat me under the dryer for a few minutes. It was made of material not saran wrap. Then combed my hair down and it was very bouncy.

Its to lock in moisture. Leaves the hair very shiny and soft.

saw this done in the salon tuesday. the latina sista had longer hair, past her shoulders. after her rollerset, the stylist brushed her curls into a wrapped and put plastic wrap around it, sat her under the dryer for about 10 minutes.
her hair was very. very bouncy & shiny.

Ive never done it..but I heard of the method..a few of my friends have done it..its supposed to make the hair shiny and slick and make it bouncy..im gonna try it the next time I rollerset!

I didn't. You're only under the dryer for about 10-15 minutes with the saran wrap on. I used this method on my relaxed hair, can't wait to try it on my natural tresses.

I have tried this a few times; it works better for me if I skip the saran wrap because I can never get it tight enough; if I pull off a big enough piece it ends up sticking together before I can get it on my hair.

i dis this last night. sat under my bonnet dryer for 20 minutes with the saran wrap.

didn't really do that good of a job at smoothing out my roller set curls. they sort of bounced back the next morning. grr.

oh my goodness...this thread cracked me up!!!!

Sooooo many people think Macherie/ Gennifer Miller "invented" this method....don't get me wrong, she does a great job at it & her hair is beautiful, but stylists have been doing this for so long. My stylist used to roller-wrap my hair, then do the saran wrap method. Wow, LHCF is so interesting sometimes.
