Silk and/or satin pillowcases.... where to get a QUALITY product?

I've never heard/tried that place before, but I recommend tenderheaded.com. I bought my silk scarf and pillowcases from there, and I love the quality. I recommend them.

I got my satin pillow cases from Family Dollar, durable and pretty colors. I wash them once a week with no problem. I have bought others that were more expensive but they were not durable.

If you have a large quality silk or satin scarf just lay it over top of your pillow then tie the ends together under the pillow to cover the entire top. If you are a wild sleeper then use two scarves to cover the top and bottom. Then you have a satin or silk covered pillow without having to spend any money!

I got nice satin pillowcase sets from TJ Maxx a while ago for less than $7. Also, if you want nice silk scarves, save yourself a ton of money and go to Dharma trading company. The 8mm is like $2 and some change and the heavier 19mm weight is less than $8.

satin isn't really a type of material but rather how the fiber is actually woven together.

you can get a nylon satin, or a silk satin.

Preferably, look for something heavy. I like a very heavy nylon satin. Silk satin can be pretty expensive if its a heavy weighted material.

You would do best to check around in some of the better fabric stores near you.

I purchased 'satin' pillowcases from ebay. Was at TJMaxx and thought I would be crazy and purchased a satin sheet set (indigo blue..they look beautiful. I only switched the cases...sheet set was too over the top).

After seeing your messages I looked at the inside of all 4 cases and they both say:
Satin Pillowcase (at the top)
100% Polyester Made in China

Can anyone else check their Satin pillowcases to see if this is the norm? Is Satin really just polyesters cousin?:spinning:

Looking for a silk and/or satin pillowcase. I got "one" from the BSS or Walmart and I finally looked at the tag: 100% polyester.... Sigh....

Is silk more expensive than satin?

Anybody heard/used this place before? http://www.satinwonders.com

...also, I don't know if I wanna go with Silk cases right now. I've discovered that my nightly moisture applications are seaping through my bonnet and onto my cases.

My cases do absorb even the slightest bit of oil and as I toss it smears over the case.

The cases I purchased from ebay are cocoa and the blue ones from the maxx. I guess I knew there was going to be some transfer when I purchased the darker colors :yep:

The good thing about Satin versus silk is you can machine wash them and bring them back to life.

Silk is waaay to delicate for me to hand wash as often as I would need too.

There are lots of fibers that can be weaved into a satin finish, its up to the person to decide exactly what type of fiber they want (be it natural or manmade)

IMO I don't think there's a hard and fast rule. I can't stand sleeping on silk because its too hard to get oil out of. I prefer a man made material that will allow for easier cleaning.

You can get silk pillowcases that do not have a satin finish, though silk pillowcases just aren't my cuppa tea, lots of people really do like them.

I purchased my silk pillowcases from www.cuddledown.com.

I have two sets in different colors.

They wash and wear beautifully even if they get oil on them from my hair products or makeup.

Very nice.

Worth every penny.

I just want a pillowcase that's good for my hair. I hate being deceived like 100 percent polyester is anything remotely close to satin....

Oh no! Not again!!! Happened to me too, not too proud of it but it happened. Until it was explained to me about satin is really just a "finish" and not a real fabric. Was told if it was to be real it would actually have to be 100% silk, and all those I've found are somewhat costly, unless i'm looking in the wrong place LOL
