This is just a rant ....!

My hair is now 1 inch passed my shoulders ... and growing very nicely .. I think I will be near bra strap by the end of this year....

My hair is curling up to my ears ... this is crazy.... it look like i have the same length of hair I started my transitioning with ... I know it's not true ... but it looks like it ...

A big ole bush clinging to my head ... I want to see length... these are times that make me want to relax my hair ...!!!!!!

I see these girls in the street with my grade of hair and it flowing behind them ..

I know I have a long way to go ...but still it annoys me... My hair has grown so much ... but you just can't see it!

That's a lot of shrinkage. Maybe you can press it occasionally. Do you feel your hair has grown longer and faster compared to when you relax and is your natural hair harder to manage (detangling, styling, etc)?

I pretty much have control over my natural hair now .. there is more of it the the relaxed hair .... normally I do braid outs and my hair does not shrink too bad .. my hair will brush my shoulders...

but today .. I did a wash and go and boy did my hair go... ..

I have a lot of hair .... and it grows no matter what, I've had long relaxed hair many times in my life ... but it is much stronger when it is natural and healthier....

I guess it is just a part of being natural... but is is so annoying ... I just wondering .. how long does my hair have to be ,to look long and curly at the same time ..

I think it's a conspiracy!
All the follicles get together with the ends & "discuss" how they'll shock us next... Wash day they have a Field Day!!

I just wanted to say, go ahead and vent. I go through the same thing. When I finally get my hair blown out everyone will think that I am wearing a weave/wig. Shrinkage is a pain. :ohwell:

I'm the weirdo who likes shrinkage. I think it's amazing to be able to wear all of those different lengths with my own hair. While my hair is 5-6 inches, it literally shrinks down to about an inch. I haven't seen a case of shrinkage like mine yet. Check it out:

woweee... ok I'm not alone... your hair shinks as bad as mine! LOL .. and it look so good ! beautiful hair!

I kinda wish I had more shrinkage sometimes when I see the nice little compact twas and the defined twist(outs) and braid(outs). Mine was never really compact.

Thanks! If ya can't beat 'em, might as well join 'em. It so funny to see the looks on peoples faces when I go back and forth. You know they are wondering how the heck I'm able to do that!

I agree with Delightfulflame, hair shrinkage for me means that my hair is in excellent condition. Embrace your hair shrinkage and know that you are growing in a much healthier head hair, beside when it's straighten people will be amazed by the length.

Daaannggg Delightful!

I would SWEAR you cut your hair in those last pics. Now THAT'S what I call shrinkage!

Mine is crazy too. I've given up. Banding braiding nothing works. My hair is past my shoulders in back and past my collarbone in front but will always just barely graze my neck unless it's chemicalized. Heat don't even hold it down

Thanks ya'll! It took a lot of getting used to, but I know see it as a blessing.

Well you surely have me looking at it differently now. I am not very brave yet, when it comes to my hair. But I'm learning. ;)

I like shrinkage too...and I have major shrinkage as well...there's one pic where I didn't touch my hair after applying a product and nearly 6 inches of hair shrunk down to about 2 (u got me beat DelightfulFlame lol)

ETA: ok..so after looking at your amazing 1 inch pics, I had to edit. If that's what 1 inch looks like, I guess mine was closer to 3. :notworthy ;)

Awww DelightfulFlame, your shrinkage is just precious, too cute. You have a beautiful attitude to match your beautiful hair. I'm going to embrace my shrinkage too.:yep:

Although I could do without the shrinkage, it doesn't really bother me. ITA with Delightful. I think it's pretty cool to have so much versatility because of it.

you're not the only one. I love it :yep: I can have short hair one day and long hair the next without cutting. so much versatility. it's not my enemy, but it is my friend.

if you're natural it's something you're going to have to accept :)

Hey ladies:wave: I understand that shrinkage can be bothersome, but it will get better:yep: It is definitely a part of being natural,so you will learn to work with it. I want to see my length, too, but I know in due season, I will have a head full of natural hair that shrinks to my shoulders...I am almost there:yay:

:yep: what she said

I love my shrinkage. My hair shrinks from 3.5 - 4 inches down to 1/2 an inch. It fools people all the time. I like going from my 1/2 inch shrunken fro one day to a stretched out fro or a cornrow-puff the next day. It makes folks do the double-take . Plus on my lazy days i can just wash and go, my shrinkage takes care of the rest :). -- jainygirl

My hair shrinks about to 75% but I find that braiding my hair not twisting and then unraveling when completely dry helps to stretch out my shrinkage until my next wash.
