I only trust BAQ (body art quality) henna but other ladies swear by the henna from FNWL. Just from my personal experiences I'd say use Jamila henna and indigo from hennaforhair.com. Jamila is a superior brand of henna and other places sell indigo, but if you're already ordering henna from them no need to pay shipping twice.

Here's what hennaforhair suggests:
100g will dye short hair.
200g will dye collar length straight hair.
300g will dye shoulder length straight hair.
500g will dye waist length hair.
I use 500 g and my hair goes to my fingertips.

ETA: If you're unsure about the henna or indigo please call the vendor and tell them what you plan to do with it. Some henna's are meant for skin only and have a slightly green cast on hair. I usually suggest hennaforhair because they know you're using the henna on your hair.

I have used both FNWL and henna for hair and both are BAQ henna and IMO, exactly the same thing (only FNWL is much much cheaper!) Do a google search for "indigo" or "indigo hair" or something similar and you will find other sites that sell it.
