Shine Serums not created equal

Recently I used a coupon and splurged at Trade Secret to buy Bed Head GirlToys which is a shine serum. Before I had been using a small tube of Aphogee Gloss Therapy, which was 'ok', but nothing to be excited about. The Bed Head serum is 100 times better in my opinion, and I only need a tiny amount to give me super shine, whereas with the Aphogee if I used a lot to get that level of shine, it'd weigh down my hair.

I didn't think the ingredients mattered for serum but I'm convinced otherwise.

Here is the Bed Head GirlToys ingredients:
Cyclomethicone, Dimethicone, Fragrance, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate

Here are the ingredients for Aphogee Gloss Therapy:
Cyclomethicone, Isohexadecane, Dimethiconol, Benzophenone-3, Chamomile Nettle and Nettle Extract.

When I was in Rite Aid shopping for a new serum I noticed that all of the less expensive serums first three ingredients consisted of the first 3 in Aphogee (in different orders-->different concentrations in the finished product). None of them that I looked at contained dimethicone (instead of dimethiconol).

so I'm convinced ingredients make a difference.

Just out of curiousity...those that swear by Keracare serum...does it have dimethicone?

Yes,

Cyclomethicone and Dimethicone are the only ingredients in the Keracare. It's definitely the most unique of all the serums--incredibly thick and concentrated

I am a CONNOISSEUR of serums...

And you are absolutely right. They aren't the same. I have it down to what get used on what kinds of styles and at what stage in my regime and in what season.

Supergirl and Tracy, what are your recommendations for a serum to be used with flat ironing. I recently used Biosilk Silk Therapy and had good results. What's your favorite?

(Anybody's response would be helpful.)

Must try! About how much--dime size, quarter size...?????????
I bet that also provides great heat protection as well

I used the one in the small spray bottle. About five good pumps of the fine mist all over my hair did the trick....I think some people use the cream/liquid one in the big bottle.

I use Smooth 'N Shine, and the first two ingredients are Cyclomethicone and Dimethicone. It's a very thick serum. I also agree that ingredients do matter.

I got my Design Essentials from Sheldeez. It can also be purchased on the Design Essentials web site.
