Hi Ladies!

Has anyone used the actual shikaki pod before? I went to my local Indian store and they had the shikakai pods in a bag and I thought I could possibly use those in a base of, for example, coconut oil. :look: However, I wanted to see if anyone has actually tried it before. If so, how did you use the pods?

Thanks.

Never the shikakai but i've used amla fruit as a base for homemade Amla oil

You could use it though, grind the pods into fine powder, then use ripe amla fruit and mash it up

mix together and add coconut oil

Homemade Shikamla Oil!

Have Fun

No, never thought of it. I used shakaki shampoo this morning...my hair hated it this time. I had a nice wavy result but the last few inches of hair were very tangled even after deep conditioning. I solved the tangles with nearly a bottle of VO5 freesia and a ton of coconut oil and a lot of combing and ends cutting. My totally relaxed hair loved it..my transistioning hair...:nono:laying off it for now in any form.

Never use shikakai on its own

those shampoos, did it contain sulphates?

use bhringeraj and amla only on transitioning hair

use only a dib of shikakai if you find breakage along the demarcation line

that should help

Thanks for the speedy responses ladies.

I might try getting the pods and grinding it myself if the store doesn't get the powder in.

Thanks again
