I would love to know, what should you consider shedding and what should you consider breaking?? I'm new to the whole perming thing and I need as much knowledge as possible. thank you.

Shedding - hair that comes out at the root (white bulb on it)

Breaking - hair that breaks somewhere along the hair strand

I've only had 2 touch-ups. I didn't want to relax my hair without knowing the right way of taking care of my hair.. I'm blessed to have found this site.

Because if that's the case, I've never had sedding, I've never had hair from the roots come out.

I was just giving you the definition of shedding and the definition of breakage. I noticed in your album, you mentioned you had breakage.

Yeah, I did(maybe I was incorrect). My reason for the post was to make sure I had an understanding of what breaking is and what shedding is.

Samaria, Everyone has hair coming out from the roots. They don't stay attached to your head forever. They have a lifespan. Due to illness, nutrition, chemicals, etc. someone could be shedding more than the norm. Breakage is typically due to damage, dryness, pulling, brushing, stress on the strands, loss of elasticity, etc.

Shedding 50-100 hairs each day is considered normal. Anything more than that would be another story and would require remedies such as protein conditioning to strengthen hair, regimen changes, checking hormonal changes, etc.

No but if a couple strands come out and the they don't have white bulbs on them, then yes it's breakage.

You might not be able to check all the hairs but look at a few in good lighting and you should be able to see.
