I use mine to make a pomade. Alone I found it too heavy and it makes my hair (even when it was natural) feel hard. Try melting it down and adding some oils and then put it in the fridge until it is solid again. I then store it at room temperature. Any unused portion that I don't melt down, I store in the fridge until I make up another batch.

second what sweet cocoa said.

today, i made my own version of a pomade- with aloe vera, alma oil, castor oil, shea butter, and a dollop of glycerin. I applied it to my hair, then combed it out with a denman brush.

i will tell you how it goes tomorrow.

but its really creamy and has a nice slip. I may have to investigate making my own shea butter conditioner...

yeah thats what i want to do experiment a bit... i did melt it in the microwave and used a bit around my hair line..but i want to explore how it can be used in the most effective manner for edges...the hair line...as well as my ends...but once you melt it and use some do you place the rest back in the fridge or keep it at room temp with your other products?

I loved shea butter when I was natural but I find it a bit too heavy on my relaxed hair. I use it sparingly in the dead of winter on my ends
