i was wearing my hair down at church. this girl, who's like 12 or so, comes up to me and starts touching my hair. not soft, gentle caresses either but she was pawing at it! I feared for my poor strands! i felt like she was tearing them but i was probably overreacting cause this has never happened to me before. the whole time she was saying: "your hair's so soft and silky. it's like white people's hair". i was like: "sweetie, you know exactly what i do to my (cause i've told her before) and you know i'm as black as you but thank you". i tried to pull away but i was trapped since there's no way to do this without seeming rude. so i just sat there for what seemed like an eternity (2 minutes really) and gave her more hair advice. i think i'll wear my hair up from now on.

you so silly!. hey how've you been? i haven't been on here much cause i've got a full load of classes. speaking of which i gotta go. my break's over. isn't that sad? i spent all my little down time on LHCF and now i gotta go back to class.

Geez, why couldnt she LOOK without touching?  But that's really a very high form of compliment.... that she couldnt keep her hands out of your silky tresses. Go CD!!!! :D

:lachen: I'm a HOT mess! my hiar growing and I'm a month behide in schudel with classes.. i'VE BEEN USING THE SAME NOTEBOOK FOR ALL 5 OF MY CLASSES?!:ohwell: Today I'm cleaning/orginzaing/post new pics in my forkit and getting my class crap together or elese! No time to waste...

OFF TO CLASS WITH YOU WOMAN!

This is cute when it comes from a child. They do not mean to hurt, they can be akward, but hey...!!! :ohwell: My little cousins do exactly the same. They make me kneel behind them and then they put my hair all over their little heads ans shoulders. It really gives them the illusion that it's their hair for a few minutes. I find it cute :)
It doesn't bother me as long as they are playing and doing no harm really.

When it comes to adults, it's different. How can a grown woman assume she can put her hands all over my hair ?? I do not like it at all. This is just not right

This happened to me at my job recently. Everyone is constantly complaining that I don't ever wear my hair down, so i decided too just for them. Girl, when I went to work I had everybody and their moma in my hair:perplexed I told them that this is exactly why I keep my hair up at all times.;)

exactly... i've had enough people in my childhood pawing thru my hair because it was "so long and purty." i am an expert at strategic hair defense now... i can dodge and smack hands coming in at any angle! :whip: LOL

*btw nikkipoo... what's up with your avatar? are you from Indiana or did you go to IU? (yea i'm nosy :) )

If it were Me: "Uh huh, thank you sweetie."

*then pulling my hair over my shoulders IN FRONT me*

May seem rude, but so is touching someone WITHOUT their permission.

say in a nice way you dont like your hair being touch i tell my grand child please dont play in my braids SO I KNOW WHAT I WOULD SAY IF IT WAS MY REAL HAIR just like you tell them dont play in your face most people teach their child not to let people play in their hair so why let them play in your maybe she dont :) know but its a good time to teach her NO MORE PAWING I KNOW YOUR HAIR IS MAD AT YOU:lol:

hey girl :)

kinda OT but what church do you go to? I am looking for a church in tampa...you can pm me if you like.

Do you think she could have been "weave-checking" you? I was sitting with two of my friends' children once (two little girls), they were both like 6 or 7, I had my hair in braided extensions and one of them asked me if it was all my hair or was it a "weave"? I thought it was so cute since they were so young. It's funny what kids pick up on. The mother of the one that asked me if my braids were a weave wears weaves all the time.
