I just had to share this story.

I was on the phone with my sister, as we spoke I kept hearing this noise. As if someone was lightly tapping or hitting.

As the conversation continued there would be periods of hesistation and then this noise again.
So I just had to ask my sister "what is that noise?"
She answered that she was patting her head because it was itching and she was due for a relaxer the next day and did not want to scratch so to irritate the scalp.
I fell out with laughter because I had seen some others do this before, but never new why.
If I had a itch I just scratched lightly and then make sure to protect the that area of the scalp well. (when I use to relax)
Have you ladies ever done this?

lol
i know this all too well! esp. down south a few years ago and still today when people have those hard gel hairstyles that couldnt be disturbed and also when people were waiting to get a relaxer.
they would literally be beating themselves up! lol

All the time! And it seems like it itches the most right before it's time to get a fresh relaxer. I'm sure it's psychosomatic.

yup. and i know when i first get tracks i 'tap'. you know who else i noticed 'tapped'? britney spears on that interview last week!!! it was too funny! she admits to wearing tracks and she was TOTALLY TAPPING...i called my sister right away adn we died laughing.

Yes, I used to do that all the time. I had an extremely sensitive scalp. I'd walk around hitting my head trying to relieve the itch so my touch-up wouldn't burn. So glad those days are over...

Yes I noticed that! Talk about it being on your mind!

Me too! I swear as soon as I decide I'm going to go in and get a touchup, my scalp starts to act a fool.

Oh man. You sure that wasn't me you were on the phone with. I do that allt he time too

ooh in middle school, years ago, when i had a perm, id get scolded for scratching before a touchup. and i wasnt allowed to drink caffeine near a touch up either. if i got perm scars, my mother would say " that's what you get for scratching like that" ooh, itd hurt so bad.

I pat my head or do that Yoga scalp exercise, moving the scalp back and forth (scratches from the inside out!).

that is so funny. I used to always see women who had a full weave do that. One day i saw a woman do this as she was driving!
