I plan to get some done (just my natural hair, no extensions) and keep them in for only 5 weeks or so. how should I care for them? should i buy a braid shampoo or just pour thru shampoo diluted with water? thanks for any tips.

My cornrows never last more than 2 weeks and that is with weekly washes /images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I'd like to know also, since I plan on doing this in the near future...

When I wore my cornrows, they only lasted for about two weeks. I performed conditioner washes on them during the two week period. I put a scrunches on the end of my braids and mainly massaged my scalp. I also performed a deep conditioner every other wash. I washed my hair twice a week. I also just let my hair air dry.

You know what, you're right. there's no way I could go five weeks with cornrows. /images/graemlins/laugh.gif I just haven't had them in so long that I forgot they don't last as long as box braids. silly me... /images/graemlins/blush.gif
