And I had this issue when I was relaxed. My hair just gets all tangled and feels like straw. It's really bad. And I"ve tried so many different shampoos. Garnier Fructis, Herbal Essences, Suave, Motions, ORS, I can't even name them all..... :ohwell: I thought Joico MR would be a good one but it didn't do anything for my hair. Aubrey Organics Island Naturals was a natural disaster! :wallbash: I know there are a lot of ladies that are no poo. So then what do you do when your hair needs cleansing? I'm not that crafty so I will really need it to be spelled out for me.

Maybe you're lathering too much. Next time you want to shampoo, find the gentlest shampoo you've tried and just lather your scalp one time (avoiding working the shampoo through the length of your strands), rinse, then use a nice moisturizing conditioner.

It's said that shampoo is really only meant for your scalp and that your hair gets clean enough from just rinsing the shampoo out.

I do this when my hair's been feeling dry and it works well for me.

I've moved on from shampoo too. I use Castille Soap now. I get the liquid Dr. Bronners from Target. The only other shampoo I like is Burt's Bee's Raspberry Moisture. I add olive, castor, and Herbal oil to the castille soap and it works great. Also I think others use Baking soda for clarifying too.

well all of the poos u listed have sulfates in them. So ur not gonna get a moisturizing or slip feeling when using them. Esp. Aubrey poos which ive tried and always got tangles. If tangles are what ur tired of then massage ur scalp in the direction of ur hair flow. Try not to work ur hair all over the place when washing

I use only conditioner to clean my hair. Sometimes to the con, I'll add baking soda (for product buildup) or sometimes I'll add a mix of ayurvedic herbs (for scalp health), and - that's it. I've been doing this for well over 2 years now, and my hair loves it.

Castille soap is way harsher on my hair than shampoo ever was. My hair doesn't like shampoo bars, either. Picky head.

Cream of Nature is the only shampoo that doesn't try to make me bald, so far. Neutrogena Triple Moisture worked when I was relaxed, but isn't as great now.

Thanks ladies for the responses and suggestions. I tried Burts Bees too and that stripped the mess outta my hair! Idk, sulfates or none, there is something about shampoos that my hair just doesnt like. I don't even use that much and I wash in the direction of my hair flow.
