Sew-In Ponytail and Washing.

I was in a wedding this past weekend and for the event I had a sew-in ponytail. Its great and I really like it but its time to take it down. However, I would like to try to wash and condition the weft hair before I take it down. I just thought it would be easier to do rather than trying to wash and comb it out when its in one long piece.

Am I crazy? I wanted to run it by you guys before I get myself in a world of trouble.

IMO, it would be better for cleaning your scalp to take it out first and then wash your hair. The few times I wore sew-ins, I'd just trash them when I was done. However, I believe you can gently wash the piece in cool water with a good moisturizing shampoo (like you would your silk stuff), comb out and then hang to dry.

I agree. I would remove the ponytail and wash your hair and/or it separately. I use wefted hair for my phony ponies and I wash it separately with no problem. Treat it like you would your own hair. Now, I have never had a sew-in one, but I hope this helps.

Well I'd planned on washing just the weft hair, air drying, taking it down and then do a full wash and condition of my own hair. I just thought the weft hair would be easier to handle - detangle etc - while it was still up and stationary. But since you guys are saying its not a big deal to wash it seperately I won't worry about it. Thanks!
