Self Trimmers-what do you use to trim your ends!

Im getting ready for the full moon trim Feb 18th 2011. I have caused more damage before using the wrong type of scissors. I know they should be sharp but what specific brand are you using! Any successful reccomendations would be appreciated!

Well I guess I shouldnt say they were wrong but after the trim I had bushy ends that I did not have before.Then they split which meant I really needed a trim at that point. I felt that maybe the scissors werent sharp enough IDK erplexed... Thanks the reply.

regular hair shears from the beauty supply. occasionally i use the big scissors used in school for art projects when i happen to be at my desk and find a split or knot that annoys me. i wouldn't recommend those though.

No...They were a brand new pair but I must admit-I didnt know I should oil them 1st! Maybe this was my problem!

I don't self-trim but a lot of my friends and people on the board use the Split-Ender.

I just bought some shears from the BSS.
I don't know if they're good though, haven't tried them yet.

I use some Clairol hair scissors I got from Target.

I bought some scissors from Sallys a few years ago. I only use them to trim my hair (which is once or twice a year) and S&D

I got mine from Sally's also. I paid about 10 bucks for them. I hope they're okay. I'm afaid to go to the shop. I might after I relax in March.

you want to get a good pair of hair sheers.

the ones for $10-$20 are no good honestly. i paid $45 for mine and i can feel and see the difference then when i was using cheap sheers.

if you get your $10 pair of scissors and run your fingers across the edge, they'll feel just like any old pair of scissor.

but if you run your finger across a good pair of shears, it will be smooth and SHARP!

if you are only using your scissors on your self then you'll never have to buy another pair again.

but if you get the cheapie pair... well, you get what you pay for you know

but some ladies use the Splitender. its suppose to get rid of split ends but keep your length

cosign with this. Been cutting my hair a lot in the past year and 2 months, and I definitely use the expensive pair but don't have the type. When I used the cheap ones found splits more often.

Also know you're cutting on a full moon but did you know that increases thickness not growth versus new moon (which already passed)? I know not many follow this but I do and I've had many a set back (due to layers and hairstylists and health) but my hair has grown out pretty well even though I've cut it a ton in the past 14 months.

I think it's important to invest in some good sheers.
