through and smooth your hair? And what is the result(straight, bone straight texlaxed)? DH and I are still trying to get this relaxing down. This time came out the best but I wonder if we smoothed too much? Should you only smooth a little and then let the relaxer just sit? That didn't seem to work to well the relaxer before this one.

Sometimes I go through once putting the relaxer on and then again. But this last time I only went through with the relaxer and I thought it turned out great but DH said my hair didn't take the relaxer because it was still nappy at the roots.

I'm texlaxed...but I think I smooth my hair maybe 2 times. It depends on how straight I feel my hair getting. If it's getting 2 straight I stop. I only smooth w/ my finger tips.

I usually go twice because I have a tendency not to put enough on. I went through once the last two times and underprocessed myself.

This is exactly what I do, as well.

I'm texlaxed and I hurry and put it on quickly in five minutes on my roots only. Then I go through and smooth the endges only.

I need to remember to "barely" relax the back of my hair. That's the only part that tends to easily be overprocessed (even with a texlax). I just have to baby the very nape of my hair. It's soft and barely needs a relaxer at all. I may coat that part with conditioner next time and just put a teeny bit of relaxer on the roots for the last minute.

Okay, DH went through 3x(I think). I'm not really going for the texlaxed look. He said he was tired of seeing newgrowth. My last 2 relaxers before this last one have been underprocessed.:)

I only smooth a little maybe on time after I apply it all.

I have a hard time smoothing the inside section because I am always afraid to manipulate my hair with the cream on it.

I normally do more smoothing on the outside sections because I don't habe to move my hair much.

That is why I am VERY texlaxed. My mom always tells me my hair is frizzy :look:

I think because I just never get it bone straight.

I really don't do it at all. I have fine hair which relaxes very easily. If I do any smoothing I will do it in the crown area with my fingers, since the crown area ng tends to be a bit thicker.courser 4a ish. This last time I didn't do any smoothing and it still came out good.

I smoothe with my fingers, i dont part through and smooth, I just randomly smooth the sections that need it for about 5-7 mins or until it needs to be washed out. I never let it sit, it never really takes without smoothing...

OK So DH stands for Dear Husband so what does OT and SO stand for?

What is this a crash course in abbreviations?

J/k OT-Off topic, SO-Significant Other at least that is what I thought these abbreviations meant.

I have been smoothing just once and it has not been working out for me. I am trying to get the bone straight look and will now be doing it about 2-3 times. I hope this makes a diffference because once is just not enough.

The problem with me is, I can move slow with the application, so by the time I go through about once, I feel I need to rinse it out before my head fries like an egg. I am going to do a practice perm today (with conditioner) to bring down my relaxer time. Maybe try the method with putting the relaxer on with clips covering the relaxed ends.

If you move slow in applying it, I would add 1tbs of EVOO to your relaxer mix. It does NOT cut the strength, but it DOES slow the processing down to give you more time to work with it. HTH

Thanks. Do you think this is with any oil? I always hear about EVOO but I have an oil blend from the whole foods store mixed with amond oil, lanolin oil and evoo.

I only smooth over once. My hair comes out pretty straight with this method with a slight wave pattern. I dont like for my hair to be bone straight.

We do, because somethings I just can't figure out, like DJ.

I take about 15-20 minutes to complete the process. The first 7-10 are for applying in sections (hair is divided in quarters). The last 7-10 are for smoothing. I smooth sections with my gloved fingers in the same manner/order as I apply.

The end result is a much looser curl pattern.

Do you have coarse hair, soft coils, a mixture? Also what relaxer do you use?

I really think it depends on your hair type and goal. I have to go through and smooth a lot! My hair is very thick and coarse. If I don't do this it comes out very underprocessed! Even when I was going to the salon, the stylist would smooth it a lot. I'm not not bone straight, I guess I'm on the straighter end of texlaxed.

:lachen: :lachen: At bolded. You're right though.

I take 10 min. to apply to the whole head, then smooth once or twice and let is sit for 3-5 more minutes.
This gets me ~80-85% straight. Straight when dry, slightly wavy when wet.
