Sedu Too Hot????

Do any of you Sedu users find that the heat from the iron is too much to deal with? I have read MANY reviews about the extreme heat that comes from the iron. Some people even called it a defect . I have only used mine a few times on small sections of my hair just to see how it straightens. I have yet to use it on my whole head yet because I am still in braids.
I am trying to decide whether or not I will sell it and try another brand namely the Solia. I'm not trying to suffer third degree burns in the name of straight hair:ohwell:

Yea, you're right. The outside of the handles part does become very hot to the touch. Especially seeing how I used to be a "two handed flat ironer" But I actually adjusted to where I only use one hand and I make sure I don't touch the outside of the iron. That's my only complaint about sedu.

I am definitley the "two handed flat ironer". I think I will switch. I can see myself getting all blistered up now. Thanks for the input MizaniMami.

Yeah I would def. try doing it with one hand, it's a very good iron.

Interesting mines never got that hot, I was able to hold them just fine without a problem. But then again I've always used one hand with a flat iron so maybe that's why.

Maybe the temp at which you use it makes a big difference. I can just see my whole scenario though. I'll forget and try to use two hands, drop the iron on the floor and because it is so flimsy it will break, and I'm out $138.00. A little dramatic but probably exactly what will happen:lol:
I will order the Solia.

I use the sedu with one hand... i can't imagine trying to flat iron with two hands (i'm the type of person who gets really nervous around hot objects). you could just turn the sedu down to a lower temperature and just leave the iron on your hair a few seconds longer.

That would be fine, but once I get to the back of my dome I always feel like I'm hitting it better when I am able to squeeze the plates with my other hand. Maybe I will wait until I take these braids out and really give it a good try.
