I was reading about this on growafrohairlong.com, but haven't found much info about it searching though this board. Does anyone do this regularly? Does it make a significant difference?

I do it regularly and yes it has made a tremendous difference. Den1 is the expert on this one and does this on a regular basis. Maybe if you PM her she could help you out, she's very nice and usually responds quickly.

Either I didnt do it right or it just didnt work for me. My ends are still in recovery

The first time I tried it I didn't do it right either. My second try after finding out how to do it correctly they came out beautifully and have every since.

What kind of oven do you have to have to heat up the non electric flat irons? or can a regular flat iron be used as well?

Until you can catch up with Den1, here is her website with a description of "Sealing end". It's entry #11.

This is the one that I have, but I think it can be used on the stove.

Some people have said they used the electric flat iron w/o any problems.

I have yet to try the ends sealing, but I bought a bevel iron for that purpose (I already had the oven).

I use the electric flat iron and it comes out ok.
