Sealing ends with foil and flat iron

Is it safe to seal my ends with my plug in flat iron?

I am not too sure how effective sealing your ends with foil and a flat iron is but with when you mix heat with oil you can get burned so be careful. You also can burn your fragil ends by mistake if your flat iron is too hot.

Do a search on the board - several members use this method to seal their ends. I haven't tried it yet, but its on my to try list.

I did this method with the sealing of the ends. A 6 months to a year later I had horrible split ends and I had split ends not a the tips of my hair but basically an inch and 1/2 in the middle of my hair strands. That was the only thing that I could think of that made this happen to my hair. It might work for some but not all.

What about trying it with a fabric, like silk or satin?
