Is it really safe to let's say like every other day I'm currently in cornrows and would like to up my co/washes. But I don't want to use shampoo all the time and I was thinking of using it like on a q-tip to remove any build -up I might get on my scalp from my daily co/washes any thought is this a good idea? :feedback:

You might want to try a toner that is alcohol free. There are several alcohol free Witch Hazel toners that are good and moisturizing because they have other ingredients. There is a nice Rose one that smells good.

Some braid sprays can double for scalp cleansing and are alcohol free. Better Braids leave in is good for this.

Edited to add:

Here is one of the toners. Thayers has several scents and one unscented on that is alcohol free, but can see the good ingredients in there. They are have similar stuff in them.

I have used seabreeze in the past, but found (via several member recommendations) that it was too harsh to use even weekly.

I found what worked better for my hairs health and build up was using Apple Cidar Vinegar (ACV) rinses or Green Tea Rinses.

Since usine ACV I have -0- build up. This comes from someone who used to think I had dandruff because the build up for some much.

SeaBreeze is commonly used for oily dandruff. I would suggest you not to use it b/c it's actually drying up your scalp. Have you thought about trying a dry shampoo? I know cornstarch will dry up the buildup, but it may be a little messy.

I've been using Better Braids Herbel cleanser. Even though it has Alcohol in it the other ingredients helps counter act it so that it's really cleansing without drying out my scalp. I use the makeup pads instead of q-tips so that it doesn't take as long.

eta: the ingredients from the site is incorrect because on mine it has way more extracts and less artificial chemicals. It smell really nice too and makes my scalp tingle <3.

But even using witch hazel by itself should be good enough at cleaning the scalp.
