I know most on this forum are over 18, but hope you ladies might be able to help me.

My daughter is having 8th grade school pictures taken on Monday, of course she wants to have a rollerset done. When she told me on yesterday, I was "horrified". I hate the thought of her "letting down" her hair.

I think I am "obsessed" with the protective styles that she wears daily.

Since being on this site for the past year, her hair has grown to an amazing length and I shared pictures of her at my brother's wedding this summer, where she wore the back half of her hair down, but her dress was strapless and her hair only rubbed "the back of her back".

This weekend, I plan on looking for a cute silk or satin blouse that she can wear to minimize friction as her hair will be out for the pictures. Any recommendations on stores that carry "cute silk or satin blouses" for Juniors will be appreciated.

Also,

Does anyone know of a product that can protect her ends, without being
oily or greasy.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Hi!
I remember those pictures of your daughter's beautiful hair... and the nice wedding too.

I know I see the Profectiv & LTR conditioners for the hair ends in stores all the time. I've heard some good reviews on both.

...personally I love coconut oil on my hair and especially my ends.

I'd like to see pics!!

My little sister loves to shop @ either "The Limited Too" and even "The Limited" Depends on how your baby is shaped.

Also, don't underestimate the TARGET junior's section...

Here are the pics I shared. Thanks much for the tips.

Christa438 thats great, thanks so much for your suggestions!

I don't think one day of wearing her hair down will be bad. I'm sure she won't be wearing a wool sweater so whatever outfit she picks out should be fine.

If you put a bunch of stuff in her hair and then have her in a silk blouse, she will for sure end up with a stain and be majorly embarrassed. Even the non oily stuff leave a residue that may stain silk or satin.

^^ Cosigning; my picture days on the 23rd and since it's only one day .. I was gonna enjoy it for a day or two, then back to the braidouts. It won't hurt.

i got all my silk/satin shirts from places like ross, marshall's, tjmaxx, whatever.

my sister is the same age...luckily she loves to live in kinky twists. but don't be afraid of letting her hair down!

There was a thread not too long ago about putting oil on the ends of the hair only which allowed the ends to "slide/glide" against clothing instead of getting caught. You might try that.

But, again, a stain on her shirt would be mortifying.

I agree with the satin shirt idea. Have you tried, Macy's or JC Penny's, Sears? How about Forever 21, or Charlotte Russe, they have TONS of silky, satiny shirts. Good luck! Please take pics, you know we love pics.

I agree, don't do real silk, just get a top with a silky feel so the shirt won't stain. Also if you have a DOTS you could try that. You are doing so good with your dd's hair.

Not really sure of stores. Just wishing her a good picture day. It's fun to let your hair down every once in a while. You get to swing it and feel all special. One day won't hurt but deciding to wear the satin/silk shirt is a good idea on your part. Happy Pictures!
