Saving Money on Hair Products

Many of you ladies can't get the products you need because of cost.

But have you considered shopping on Amazon? They sell tons of hair products and offer deep discounts. Further, many of the sellers offer free shipping.

I tend to only use things on my hair that I can buy locally.

i.e. I use a lot of conditioner in my hair, and although I LOVE Silk Elements Moisturizing treatment, for what it costs, its only good for about 2 DC's, when I can buy Motions Moisture Plus Tub for 20 bucks that lasts me 2 or more months.

I am a hair cheapie!! but if I could find MMP for less on amazon with free shipping, Id be on it!

Yes I'm getting into it. The shipping cost can depend on the seller - i.e. are you buying directly from amazon or an amazon marketplace seller. But I live in exurbia and everything is a drive for me so shipping is often cheaper than my cost of gas ... and if it's free - well even better.

Bluebeez.com have alot of top notch hair products and are rather reasonable! I purchase my Dominican products from them (silicon mix)

I always worry that deeply discounted products are knock-offs!

Just like when I see a high-end salon product at a BSS. If it is done it with movies, music, purses, etc...why not hair products?

i do vitacost.com to get everything from aubrey's or mill creek products but also my organic tampons/pads, deoderant,natural cleaning products, and other items too...the shipping is a $5 flat rate. for every bottle of shampoo i go through 2-3 bottle of conditioner so i order from them about every 3months or so.

for the most part everything that i use can be found at my local bss or walmart. i try not to get to caught up in fads (realized early on that this could leave a girl broke and disappointed) and i stay away from online products no matter how bad i want to try them. The idea of getting caught up in shipping fees and the "omg im almost out of ____" feeling keeps me from indulging in online products.

I was just on Amazon looking at some Joico Moisture Balm since so many ladies on here sing its praises. I haven't pulled the trigger yet because I want to check the prices at Ulta but I found a huge 16 oz tub for 15.00 bucks. I am on a use 1 buy 1 challenge so I am trying to be good.

Amazon offers free shipping on many of its items.

Also, when you buy a product in a store, you aren't just paying for the product but also for overhead (such as rent, building maintence). However, online items are a lot cheaper because there is a lot less overhead. That's why vitamins at the VitaminShoppe.com are much cheaper than the same vitamins at a store (because there's less overhead).

i try to buy locally too. i also like buying larger sizes because i get more products for less $$ and have to take less frequent trims to the store. most of my products come at least in liter sized bottles.

I used to buy a lot of hair products off Amazon but I've noticed over time that their shipping prices are getting rather spendy. At least IMO. i still buy my shea butter through Amazon.

These days I've been buying my stuff locally. Much cheaper!

Folica.com is the BEST site for purchasing hair tools like flat irons they always have a sale going on and free shipping on most products and they send a free item with your purchase. (igot a mini flat iron with my purchase)

Puritanspride.com is the BEST for buying vitamins and essential oils -IMO Their buy one get one free / buy two get three free program is awesome! yur paying for one bottle for the price of two! 4.99 shipping ahh and sometimes they have free shipping sales.

Another vitacost shopper right here. Their prices are just lovely. I just purchased some coconut oil, aloe vera gelly, and a shampoo and conditioner. The discount was ridiculous (esp compared to local prices), and I didn't have to pay for shipping. Even then, the shipping is dirt cheap.


I've actually shaped my product routine in a way that allows me to get the kinds of products I want for as cheap as possible. Thankfully I can purchased my QB moisturizers locally and at a discount. I can get my coconut oil locally or at vitacost.com. I make my own leave-in with vegetable glycerin. Shampoos and conditioners are whatever.


I think I'm going to purchased my next batch of shampoo and conditioner from massagewarehouse.com in bulk sizes. Other places have the gallon sized Giovanni products for as high as $75 in some cases. Massagewarehouse has them for $34.99.

I worry about this too now especially since I heard the Curls line at Target is their cheap department store version. I would think that would be bad for business.

I do agree with this, I am actually shocked how much more the health food store charges for stuff that you can buy from vitacost. The same exact things like oils and vitamins.

I agree! I JUST ordered from Bluebeez the first time ever this week (on Wednesday) and received my order the very next day. (Little did I know, they are located in New York!) Nonetheless, I found products there that are hard to find at other places (like the Racioppi RR Line; I've only seen them at Dominican salons, and they charge up the butt for the prices!) and Bluebeez had wonderful prices and GREAT deals.

Aside from that, I'm pretty lucky to live in NYC where there are a billion BSS stores; I have BSS in my neighborhood who always have some of the cheapest prices on products I've seen.
