How do these work? I can't for the life of me figure out how you wouls set your hair with this stick.

Is that the tube w/the colored soft stuff or the spiral tube? I am wondering about these two types of rollers and how to use them also.

The end loops back through the little hole in the curler--

The curler is made out of a smooth foam. It reminds me of package peanuts...

I'm not sure... It doesn't seem like it would suck the moisture out of the hair like a sponge roller, though.
