Has anyone experinced their hair will not grow beyond a cetain length. I'm pass shoulder length, but not yet APL. I have tried for over a year to grow my hair out, but for some reason I can not get pass this length. However, I have thickness, which does not allow for the straight look anymore without puffing up. Does anyone have any suggestions. I'm currently wearing my hair in a ponytail everyday with the exception of Sundays. I do workout during the week which limits me from wearing any other styles.

It could be that your hair is growing but maybe you are watching it to much.

It also could be your regimine.

Or lastly, which I definitely don't think it is cause it would be very rare, your terminal length could be around 2 years.

I am leaning towards the first reason though.:yep:

I agree with Chica, i say take pics - for yourself and compare them in 3 months you would be surprised. I was convinced my hair hadn't moved especially with all the updates on the site till I compared shots:yep:

I'm sorry, Angel, that you are experiencing this. To answer your question, yes, my hair stayed the same length (just pass shoulders) for YEARS. I finally got over that hump by daily moisturizing and protecting my ends. I made sure that my hair never rubbed my shoulders or collar. I was amazed to find out how much length I was losing through breakage; some of it I saw, some I didn't see. In just over a year, my hair has grown to full BSL.

My suggesstion: Protect your ends as much as you can. I too workout 2 to 3 days a week, and my favorite style to wear are spiral sets (see siggy). I cover my hair with a thin net, sweat as much as I want, then let my hair airdry in the net.

I hope this helps you.

I agree with chica. I'm having the same problem. I am itching for WL so bad, but it seems as if my hair is just stuck at MBL and won't grow anymore. But I've learned that in all of my efforts of trying to grow it out, I was doing something everyday I shouldn't have been doing: checking for length. I found that checking the length everyday did nothing but shatter my hopes. Now, I wait until once a month to check the length. Things seem to look better then. So, just hang in there, and instead of checking for length all the time, just relax and get into the habit of checking it only once a month. Make sure to take comparison shots. Your hair's growing, just not at the rate you want it to grow. Unfortunately, not all of us are wired with hair that grows an inch per month.

Edited for spelling

I agree with chica that it's probably your regimen. Post it and we might be able to give better suggestions. :yep:

Your hair is more than likely growing if you are getting new growth, however you may not be retaining all of your growth. You may want to take another look a your regimen or the products that you are using and see if they are condusive to your hair texture.

I feel this way (my hair is staying the same length). But since I know the above is true, I’m trying to work on the situation!

YES!!! my hair has between between APL and BSL for years... the closest ive been recently was 1 inch away from BSL, then some hair catastrophe happened and i lost all my length. I havent been there since, but i kinda just gave-up on my hair after a while. Now, im putting the extra work in.

My hair has been pretty much the same length my whole life. I have never been past the bottom of my neck. I was beginning to think my hair would never grow.

However, my hair gets crazy growth, my problem is retention and recently, severe breakage.

It seems to be retaining the length. I was wearing buns, but for some reason I started to see breakage, so that is out. Now all I do is apply QP Mango Butter Cream to the entire head including the ends and put into a ponytail (hair clip - no hair ties of any kind). I wash and deep condition once a week, and I stretch my relaxers to 21 weeks (next one is not until Dec). I have had a trim with my last relaxer. I didn't have that much trimmed.
