So...

I scheduled to have my hair relaxed today at 11:30. I made it 3 and a half months..yay!! But I get to the salon before 11:30. I called and confirmed with her early that morning and even right before I came. I came in and I saw all these beautiful black women with gorgeous hair. I just knew I was in heaven until...11:47 rolls around and I still have not seen the stylist(this is my first time visiting her)...I am already thinking that it was unprofessional, but I wait. At 12 p.m., the hair washer comes and puts a towel around my neck and bases my edges...great I am about to get my hair...no... i see that she starts to base 2 other people's edges. I wait another hour and a half and she finally comes to get me!! The relaxer was awesome. She got the relaxer in my hair in no time and smoothed it out very well. It was less than 10 minutes...I did have to tell her not to comb it...she combed it lightly but I was not having it. Weird thing though. The lady who washed my hair washed out the perm and then put conditioner in my hair. She let it sit for about 10-20 minutes. She then rinsed out the conditioner and washed my hair with neutralizing shampoo(is that supposed to be a good thing?) I sat under the hair dryer for maybe 10 minutes, but I had to go to the restroom. When I came back, they had already put someone else under the hood. I was happy with this because it allowed for my hair to be air dryed the rest of the way anyway!! By this time it was 3 p.m. I realized that everything that I really needed had been done. I know how to style my own hair anyway, so I sat for the next five minutes gaining up all my nerve to pay the hair stylist for the relaxer and leave without a style. I had a meeting to be at, at 4. I went there with dry, unstyled hair:wallbash: But I was okay with that. It actually turned out well because my hair got to air dry and she did not have the opportunity to put those extremely hot curlers in my hair or attempt to cut 2 inches off of my hair. I don't know how to rate this. I was extremely upset about waiting, but I felt like I had more control. All I needed was a perm. I was able to go home moisturize my hair with glycerine/rosewater mixture; cantu shea butter hairdress and seal with Carol's Daughter's Lisa's Elixir. I then let it dry and yes, I flat ironed my own hair! It turned out wonderful and there was so much more length from that 3 1/2 month stretch.

I want to go back to her, just to get my 10 minute perms and leave with conditioner and a plastic cap. Is that crazy? Or a good idea?! Am I crazy to want to go back and also...

The last relaxer I received, there was no smoothing of any sort. My hair came out crinkled. When I received this perm, she did any excellent job of smoothing it. So now I have a patch of fuzzy hair and my roots are straight. How do I take care of that?:ohwell:

That was so tacky. I would not go back:nono: and I would tell the stylist why! I'm sure you could find some one else just as good who valued your time and money.

I can understand the thirty minutes (well, not really), but then you said you waited ANOTHER hour and a half!:nono: That happened to me once, and when she came to get me, I told her "That's okay, I've been here long enough!" and walked out (and she was a great stylist too, but that wasn't her first offense). I didn't have anywhere to go but I wasn't going to give her any of my money for wasting my time. Not to say that I was extra brave, b/c that was my first time ever doin' that to a stylist:ohwell: I just sooooo mad. If you like her that much (It's hard to leave a stylist with mad skills:lachen:, for real), maybe you could either talk to her about it or make sure you're her very first customer on her least busy day. Just a suggestion.:perplexed

I pay my cousin who is a stylist $24.00 every two months for a relaxer only. All she does is relax ,deep condition ,and put me under the dryer with straight hair. After I leave, I go home and style or put in a protective style. She respects my wishes and I dont have to worry about her trying to trim or put heat in my hair.

So this was on a Wednesday? That's the type of service I would expect on a Friday afternoon/evening or a Saturday. I wouldn't go back to that salon. When I used to go to salons I was able to avoid slow service by going Tues., Wed., or Thurs. during the day.

I do like GeechyGurl's suggestion of making sure you're her first customer on her least busy day. :scratchch
