Hi, I was wondering, do you have to be a liscensed cosmetologist to purchase Lye relaxers? I know at Sally's you do. Just wondering! /images/graemlins/confused.gif

No, you don't have to be a licensed cosmetologist to purchase a lye relaxer (not even at Sally Beauty Supply - at least not at the ones that I shop at).

Only certain relaxer brands require a license to purchase. Not many though - Allandra is right.

The only one I know of offhand that people have trouble getting is Affirm. In NYC you should even be able to find this relaxer for sale without much problem.
