Re: Rollersetting Diva\'s, Whats your drying time?

If I'm rollersetting at home, I'm going to be there for at least two hours. At the Dominican salon, I'm there for about an hour with their turbo driers.

Re: Rollersetting Diva\'s, Whats your drying time?

At home, I need about 1hr and 10min. to get everything dried. At the salon about 50 min. I need a new dryer though, I might look into the Gold n Hot dryer, or if anyone knows of a good hooded dryer let me know please

Re: Rollersetting Diva\'s, Whats your drying time?

The longest I CAN sit is an hour and a half straight, 2 broken up. I'm usually dry in 1 and a 1/2 at home. I used to dry in 30-45 minutes at Dom. salons if I got a "hot one" (you NYC ladies know what I mean...

Re: Rollersetting Diva\'s, Whats your drying time?

I chose 1hour and a half. But I also take little breaks so I won't die of boredom and heat from sitting under the dryer.

Re: Rollersetting Diva\'s, Whats your drying time?

I either airdry all the way

OR
I airdry and then sit under the hooded dryer for 30-45 minutes

Re: Rollersetting Diva\'s, Whats your drying time?

I always make sure I can surf the board when I'm under the dryer at home. That way if I can tune out the heat and the fact that I'd rather be horizontal, I know I def won't be bored. I'm under the dryer right now, in fact!

Re: Rollersetting Diva\'s, Whats your drying time?

My rolllersets usually take about one hour and 15 minutes at home and 50-55 mins at the salon.

Re: Rollersetting Diva\'s, Whats your drying time?

I can only stand 1 1/2 hours. If it's not dry after that, I get creative and take some of the rollers out and re-roll it w/o the roller and secure the hair with a small silver roller clip. It dries super fast then.

Re: Rollersetting Diva\'s, Whats your drying time?

Hello everybody
I am surprised by the % of 2 hrs drying time answers. I have been trained to rollerset since I was very young, but believe me after 1 1/2 hour under the dryer I have no heart to stay longer. I think the drying conditions are the key: if the temperature is low, if you can move your head inside the dryer, it is certainly feasible. As for me, with my head full of very big rollers, I can barely move my head once under the hood (even if it is a professional type dryer). Add a lot of heat to get a lasting effect and you can understand why I say that 1 1/2 hr is already a performance .

yip yip
My bonnet dryer at home is wimptastic even on the hottest setting.

Re: Rollersetting Diva\'s, Whats your drying time?

It takes me an hour and a half at home, I usually do two forty five minute sessions, with a check of curl break.

At the salon it takes me 35-40 minutes, very hot!

Re: Rollersetting Diva\'s, Whats your drying time?

I prefer to airdry or sit under the drier for about 20 minutes tops and airdry the rest. If I sit under the drier any longer than that my scalp gets so dry that I have to wash again the next day because of the itchies.

Re: Rollersetting Diva\'s, Whats your drying time?

With my current length (just grazing collar bone), I'm under the dryer for at least an hour and 20 minutes and that's with my commercial dryer. When it was long (at least 3 inches past bra strap) I was under the dryer for nothing less than 4 hours.

Re: Rollersetting Diva\'s, Whats your drying time?

4 HOURS? Oh dear! I am under the dryer at home for about an hour before I feel like my eyeballs are going to pop out of my head from dryness.

Wildflower, you mentioned getting the itchies. Do you think the dryer heat is stimulating to your scalp (positive) or just plain drying thus hindering growth(negative)? I am wondering b/c when I was using the hooded dryer once per week for roller sets I had itchies (without dandruff) but I noticed my hair seemed to grow a little faster too . . .

Re: Rollersetting Diva\'s, Whats your drying time?

It only takes me an hour or less, but I use the biggest size rollers that you can get. They're the big lime green ones.

I get extreme dryness and the itchies are followed by flakes and scalp irritation due to so much scratching. I can't find anything positive about that. I prefer sleepiing in rollers. the discomfort lasts only one night as opposed as getting an itchy scalp for the rest of the week. I guess I'm just not used to using any heat anymore.

Re: Rollersetting Diva\'s, Whats your drying time?

it takes my hair at least 3-4 hours and that is on a good day.

Gotcha! LOL! Maybe the stimulation I was talking about is from the pre-shampoo and/or deep conditioning treatments rather than the heat drying out your scalp.

Does your hair dry completely when sleeping in rollers? Or do you start out with dry hair? I want to try either this or using the caruso rollers. I can't find the time to sit under the dryer so long . . .
