Quick Question........
Recently found a stylist who rollersets. She is old fashioned so she wants to goop my hair up with grease but i don't let her.
I suggested my light oil, any other suggestions?
Also the real question is....Do you trim after rollersetting or should I just get it blow dried straight for a trim?

Thanks for your help.

I NEVER blow dry my hair. Period. I trim after removing rollers and combing -- hair can be quite straigt after rollersets, especially the ends.

I would skip the grease and go with a light oil. Remember, if using heat to dry, you MUST use a good heat protectant because the oil won't provide adequate protection. I use nexxus headdress with few drops of castor and rosemary oil to rollerset and air dry/cool dry. If using heat, I follow the headdress mixture with a few spritz of VO5 or vidal sasson spray heat protectant and then rollerset. I try to avoid 'cones, but I know three are good heat protectant serums, like biosilk, frizzese, tons of them if you don't mind the 'cones. HTH.

Congrats on finding an old school stylist -- now you just have to school her on some of the new stuff out here! It could be the beginning of beautiful relationship . . .

ITA. The old school stylist that I've seen will help you retain length. They will not cut it all off saying it's too much. Just tell her to ease up on the heavy stuff and I think your hair will thrive.

Thank you ladies.
Good tips Neroli.

I know for a fact that trimming relaxed hair wet could lead to more hair then intented being cut off. Hair stretches when wet. When it is dry you can see exactly what needs to go and what doesn't. Ex. you wouldn't trim airdried ends because they usually look a lot worse then they are. I've had both and perfer dry.

Any other tips?? Products?

If the set is going to leave your hair pretty straight with like a slight bend... you could trim it dry... but my stylists have never trimmed after a rollerset. The best cut/trim person I had...always did it after it was dried straight down... either blowdry... or just combed out and allowed to dry like that...

Goop does not sound good to me :ohwell:

I would take a leave in conditioner and insist that she use it.

I get dustings on dry hair that has been rollerset, my roots blown and wrapped for at least an hour; the hair falls straighter.

I get a true trim on wet hair.
