dontspeak,

What's your hair type? For how long did u generally leave the relaxer on? Did it ever cause breakage or dryness?

My hair type is a medium texture 4a. I would get the mild and leave it on for up to 20 minutes. I did not experience any breaking or dryness. Overall it is a good substitute for some of the more expensive relaxers. I got my hair very straight too!

Is it similar to Fabulaxer? When my old hairdresser would run out of Affirm or someone couldn't get in for an appointment and needed a relaxer, this is what she would use or recommend. I think it's made by Revlon.

I have never used Fabulaxer so I couldn't tell you. More than likely if it is made by the same company it is of similar quality.

i used this my last touch up. I think this relaxer is pretty strong, but it will definetely get your hair straight. She left it on for 25 mins in mild strength. I plan on sticking with this brand, but maybe leaving it on my hair for 20 mins only.

Honestly i had a few problems the first 2-3 weeks of my relaxer, i was experiencing increased shedding. I think it was mostly the result of seasonal shedding, and not so much breakage. I also went a lil crazy and did a few consecutive protein treatments when my hair REALLY needed moisture. After the deep moisture treatment my hair looked/ felt/ and behaved great. Ok. i'm rambling.

the relaxer is pretty good, and i'm hopeful that i can go longer in between touchups (without breakage) every 12 weeks instead of 8-10.

Sweetnic:

I used for my last two touch ups. The first time I used a mild and it didn't take well but I think that is because I over based. This time I used a regular and it made my texturized hair straight, but it's cool, it looks and feels good.

No problems with shedding or breakage. Upon rinsing out I used chlosterol before neutralizing. After neutralizing and using my regular shampoo, I followed with an Aphogee treatment. This I wouldn't recommend directly after a relaxer because it burns. Then I used Humectress for 30 minutes with heat.

I think it's a strong relaxer and that a mild will work just as well on my hair next time.

I plan on sticking with it.

2 thumbs up for revlon realistic. It is the ONLY lye relaxer that has ever made my hair straight + it only cost $5 and change. I will definitely be using this again!!!!!

I kept the regular on for 20 - 25 minutes (maybe less). It got my hair straight and I am really pleased. It didn't burn my scalp at all (b/c of oil prep treatment and scalp basing).

Thanks again ladies!

Where can I get the mild? I wanted the mild because I want to texturize, not relax, but I never found it at sally's and I didn't know they made one. Where did you all find it? Are there any people who use it to texturize?

SoSly,
I bought mine at an independent BSS. I'm not sure if Sally's sells it but I'll let u know. I'm going to stop by for an Aphogee treatment later on.

The Sally's in Austin, Texas have Mild, Regular and I think even Super. I use the Regular but my hair has been shedding. It seems to be getting better now. I've been using B&B Castor Oil Moisturizer.
