Hi ladies...

I was wondering how long before you noticed a newly instituted regimen took effect?

I just started loving my hair to length on wednesday, baggy'ing (sp?) my hair overnight with carrot oil cholesterol (did a bc/shaved in mid-May, so I dont have much... :grin:yet...)

Today I rinsed with warm, then cool in the shower...It feels softer, and has a nice sheen.

What have you experienced?

For me it took about a month of good hair practices to notice my hair stopped breaking off. It used to be whenver I go up off a sofa, a car seat, a pillow... lil shards of my hair were scattered about... once I stopped noticing broken hairs, I knew my regimen was doing its job.

But it was about 3 months before I saw substantial growth. But other people saw the growth way before I did, but I'm a hairorexic so my hair always looks short and damaged to me.

I think it depends on how damaged your hair is to begin with, whether you're holding on to damaged ends, etc.

When I was relaxed and overprocessed, it took me several months to see a noticeable difference in health. My nape region went from being fragile and broken to finally strong and retaining length. I had switched up my regimen to include stretching and more TLC.

While natural (I BC-ed last year), it took me just two weeks to see a noticeable difference in the ends of my hair. My ends were not damaged but they were not as strong as I wanted them to be. After changing my regimen to include prepoos, my ends are now up to par.

I think it has to do with what shape your hair was in when you start your regimen. Mine was in good shape just needed to find a way to help it grow and get thick as well as healthy.

I noticed immediately a difference in the softness when I stopped using shampoos and did deep conditining at least once a week and stopped blow drying and flat ironing.

Thanks everyone for your thoughtful input.

Do you have a special routine for moisturizing your crown? That is where my hair is the thickest, dryest and most coarse.

My crown is the same. I have moisturise it separately. I make sure that part of my hair is always moist even if the rest of my hair isn't. I noticed an improvement in my hair almost immediately. I noticed more length and fullness about 2-3 months after I started my regimen. I too started with hair that was in pretty good shape.

I also just recently started loving my hair. My hair is currently in braids. Although it is in the braids, I can definately tell a difference in the softness of my roots. I have been CO washing and deep conditioning the braids everyother day for about a week now. Oh I have also be using Jamaican Black Castor Oil sparingly on the scalp.

For me my hair does best with frequent moisturizing deep treatments, also a follow up with moisturising water based moisturisers. There is an immediate result from doing this, atleast for me.
