I have to admit I was a little pessimistic at first. But when I finished:

1.there was less hair shedding than a wash with shampoo
2. my hair smells so good
3. my hair hasn't been this managable in awhile (i was able to run my fingers!)
4. my straight ends, which are thought were damaged from heat, reverted back to curls and I had an even curl pattern all over my head instead of just the back of my head!!!

I just can't believe it.
I was so happy I even tried a new style!

I updated my album with pics!
(wash pics will be added soon)

ps. how frequently do you guys con-wash? its safe to do how many times?

I know how you feel. I love my CW's. Lately I've been doing it every other day. I usually do it twice a week.
My hair is super duper soft and I'm loving how wavy it is. I highly recommend it.
:yep:

Don't laugh... I am new and I am not sure what a co wash is. Can you explain it to me? What do you do to your hair after you are done washing it (roller set, wrap,?)?

Congrats!!!!I'm so glad you've found a method that works for your hair. When i wear cornrows, sometimes i daily co wash my hair just gets softer and more elastic.

I add Recovery oil and grease and put it in one long ponytail down the back. Or I put it in a bun.

A CW is just a wash without shampooing first. Just do whatever you would normally do after washing and conditioning. Just omit the shampoo.
:)

Hey!

When do you shampoo then? never? Doesn't the hair get a bit dirty after a while ?
I'm definately considering trying this out...my hair is so dry :look:

I've always said that I'm afraid of co washing, but with all the raves it's been getting and with the crazy dry winter weather, it's looking more and more appealing. :yep:

I want to try co washes but my hair gets so tangled when wet. Anybody else having the same problems. Does co washes help with this?

I shampoo once a week. Every Saturday to be exact. So I guess you can say...I CW....Mon, Wed, & Fri. I do my hair in the morning when I take my shower. :)

After co-washing, I'd put my hair in a wet bun. Never had any problems with dripping.

Tip: The best time to Co-wash is right after a relaxer. Hair is easier to comb and style during this time. I co-wash daily until about 12 weeks post relaxer, then I decrease the frequency to every 3-4 days.

Anky, if your hair isn't a testimony to condition washing I don't know what is. Your progress is absolutely AMAZING !!!!!
I just cut my hair so its kinda hard to condition wash b/c the back isn't really long enough to pull in a ponytail but at least it dries a lot faster.

I just finished co-washing for the first time.... and it wasn't bad at all!! I don't know WHAT I was so scared about. Anyway, I just did as if I normally washed and put my hair in a bun. Piece of cake. Hopefully, this really helps out the dryness issues I get from airdrying and the winter weather.

I agree with you about CW. I'd been having dry, tangled, dull looking hair after my shampoos, but this week I CW and my hair is ALIVE. It doesn't look dry and dull! I think I will continue with CW and only shampoo once a month.

Lately I have been CO washing everydya do to the fact that I have started working out at the gym everyday. Sweat on the scalp is a no-no and can lead to dry NG and tangled hair! My friends have even noticed too that my hair feels soft ,fluffy and, tangle-free. YAY for conditioners!

i love co-washess too- been doing them for 2.5 years. I have started adding liquid aloe vera and glycerin to my conditioners since last fall with great results. I still shampoo but i use conditioner before and after shampooing or i shampoo- condition and then deep condition.

Good Ideal, I might try this with my cheap conditioners.

Congrats lady!!! CO washes are wonderful for relaxed and natural heads, IMO. Glad it worked out for ya!

I agree. I enjoyed conditioner washes when I was relaxed. I feel they are a must for natural hair. I use to do my daily with one day being washed with shampoo. I started doing every other day while on holiday. My hair seemed to grow faster when I frequently CON washed.

I notice this to Country_gal! I got the BC on Dec. 27th & started cw every day.....my hair has filled in nicely(u can no longer see/feel the scalp-if this makes any sense).

I believe our hair loves the water. I liken it to taking a shower. After I shower I moisturize my body and give it TLC. I do the same with conditioner washes. I love to moisturize my hair afterward.

Another satisfied cw customer checking in  Usually I shampoo once or twice per week and cw the other days. I kinda decide on the fly if it's a shampoo or cw day depending on what my hair is like. Ditto on the soft hair and faster growth.

I can definetly testify to your problem. My hair was always tangled even when I poured the whole bottle of conditioner on my hair after washing. But I was able to run my fingers through my hair after this conditioner wash. Heck I'm about to go con wash again right now!

I think I am giong to try it tonight after the gym. I plan on getting a wash and set this weekend anyway, so it won't hurt to try something new tomorrow for work. I'll see if my hair is manageable.
Truth be told, though, I'm a bit scared. I'll let y'all know how it goes!

You gotta love CO washes:lachen: My hair is so much softer with CO than with shampoo - whether I use CON or Motions Lavish Moisture. And my hair feels clean too:)
