EnExitStageLeft I tried duotex and I couldn't really tell if it worked lol...if that makes since. Idk if I didn't follow directions correctly or what. How do you use yours? Do u add anything extra? Do u sit under dryer, etc?..TIA :)

EnExitStageLeft -I'm going to have to try the GVP version of the joico reconstructor. I'm reading reviews now. Do you feel that it is an identical dup of the joico?

@IMFOCSD
I had the same reaction, but I got a tip to spray it onto your hair and then go directly under the dryer without the plastic cap. Basically use it the same way you would Aphogee 2 Step PT. Sit under the dryer for about 15 minutes or until the product has dried onto the hair and then rinse and follow with Moisturizing DC.

When I used it the first time I used a shower cap and couldn't really tell a difference, but once I did it like I mentioned above my hair was strong and fortified. I pretty much love it, but Duo Tex is discontinued and while I can still get my hand on a bottle now. Its going to get pretty hard in the future. This is the only reason it isn't a staple.

FYI: I just figured out what your name said. I thought they were your initials until I looked again and was like OOOOOOH! I'm Focused

@yaya24

I love it girl. You should def. give it a try. You pockets will love you for it.
I like the fact that it fortifies my hair without leaving it stiff and hard. I use it weekly whenever I need a pick me up. I was a die hard Joico fan when I first started my HHJ. I used the reconstructor exclusively and when I used the GVP Version I really didn't see much of a difference between the two. They only thing is the GVP one doesn't leave your hair as plush as the original, but thats a small price to pay considering its half the price .

HTH'S:)!

Any Claudia's Reconstructor

yaya24

Who you tellin'. I used to buy it by the liter at Ulta and it broke my spirit everytime the cashier told me my total. I had to find another 'cheaper' option lol.

Thanks for the thread OP. I'm new to reconstructors so could use the info.

I used ION Reconstructor this weekend, which I liked. But I have nothing to compare it to. So definitely want to try some others. Will put the Curl Junkie on my wish list.

My current staples are:

Colorful Neutral Protein Filler
Mill Creek Biotin Conditioner
Shescentit Okra Hair Repair Reconstructor

With these three, I had no further need for my old favorite, Aphogee 2-Minute.

These are my undisputed favourite everything (in no particular order):

Motions Professional Neutralizing Shampoo *
Organix Hydrating Macadamia Oil Conditioner *
Organix Repairing Awapuhi Ginger Conditioner *
Mill Creek Keratin Conditioner *
Vo5 Alberto Vo5 Hot Protein Intensive Cream Treatment *
Roux Porosity Control & Corrector Conditioner *
Organix Reparing Awapuhi Ginger Dry Styling Oil * (Love this, don't use it often but it makes my hair smell divine & lasts long)

No longer favs (I get bored of using them or they smell bad) but still holy grails:

Aussie Moist Conditioner *
TRESemmé Moisture Rich Conditioner *
Organic Root Stimulator Hair Mayonnaise *
Motions CPR Protein Reconstructor *

* = ADORE; always has to be in stash, always replaced & bought in bulk.
* = LIKE; periodically in stash & replaced less often.
* = UNSURE; love it but not sure of how often I need it.

My favs are:

Aphogee Two Step Treatment. SERIOUS PROTEIN.....Hands down the best product for me, but the most difficult to use. Takes a long time to complete the process but well worth it. I use this every 6-8 weeks.

Elasta QP anti breakage serum. Reconstructive for beginners. This is a nice protein treatment to start with if you are unsure of how sensitive you are to protein but are experiencing damage or breakage. I use this when I don't have time to "two step" but need a protein infusion.

Redken Extreme CAT. This is a serious protein to me on the level of the aphogee two minute version. It is a 3-5 minute protein that I have used in the past as much as every week to repair damaged hair. It works well and is the first prod I ever used that had ceremides. This stuff was a bomb hidden weapon when nobody knew what a ceramide was.

Nexxus Emergencee. Light reconstructive properties that can restore hair with ease of use. This is an oldie but goodie. But I'd still use it if the above conditioners were out of stock.

Pure coconut milk. Used alone for 30 minutes or mixed with conditioner overnight. No frizz whatsoever and hair that feels brand spankin new!

Aphogee 2 step- used every 6-8 weeks, easily accessible.

Nexxus Polymeric serum--good stuff, not sure if they make it anymore. I still have a bit left.

Dudley DRC 28---excellent! But super expensive and hard to get if you're not a stylist.

Nexusss Emergencee... I love this stuff. I always have a bottle on hand. I also have Curl Junkie Repair Me, but for the price I pay for that the performance I rather stick with the Emergencee. I prefer gel type consistency reconstructors and then follow up with moisturizing conditioner.
