Relaxing and Surge

When I was surging, I would stop the wash before touch up time. About 3-4 days before touch up.

I just checked out your album...you have some good growth going on. From your question it sounds like you are surging. Is the surge causing the growth? Also, have you decided NOT to transition?

Ok, I'm having a slow moment....we're not suppose to surge soon before a relaxer

You're not slow, it's not something they communicate on the packaging. I learned the hard way when I got my first re-touch after I began Surging. My scalp, which usually never burns, was on FIRE!
There was also a thread on it a while back and numerous people had similar results. Someone said they called the company and it was confimed that it shouldn't be used right before a chemical application.

Yeah, I try not to put anything that is stimulating on my scalp before a chemical service.

Thanks luvslave, I had no idea :) I'm planning to surge more reguarly this summer. Right now I'm hooked on the ultra max.

Thanks. I was going to relax and then a few people over at livejournal convinced me not to give up or to at least stretch it a few more weeks and I'll try to make it to 12-16 weeks if I dont continue my journey to natural. I just got discouraged because my hair is not doing what I want it to do. It started off really well and then it started breaking and shedding again.

Just keep at it. It takes lots of patience and creativity. It also takes some getting used to. Your hair is at that in-between length. May I suggest something? Stick with braid and twist outs and rollersets to get you through...You'll make it!

I never knew that! I've haven't had any burning sensations or problems. I've gotta try to follow some advice.

Yes, stick with it. I did lots of rollersets my first few months transitioning and braid outs for many months afterwards. I am now loving twist outs. I've been at this since 1/04. Hang in there sister. You know that you can lean on the ladies of LHCF if you need support.
