I know a few people who do this and I'm not a natural nazi at all.
I'm thinking of relaxing BUT what damage do you think or know (if any articles) this would do to one's hair?

The damage could possibly be overprocessed hair and maybe some damage to your pocketbook.

Why would you want to relax that often?

Many LHCF ladies have relaxed hair and seem to keep their hair growing at the same time. However, it seemed that for optimum results, you keep at least 8 to 10 weeks between "re-touches". There are plenty of great products that will help manage any new growth in between.

So again, why would you want to relax every four weeks?

Well how much new growth do you have??

When I started taking Nioxin, I got an inch of growth in a month so I was tempted to relax.
but then I decided to transition

This girl: youtube.com/laurenmechelle relaxes her hair every month
but her hair grows super fast and she gets 1.5 inch a month

Relaxing that often puts you at risk for overprocessed/damaged hair, particularly your already-processed ends. Someone may touch-up that often if she wore her hair very short with a fade in back, so that the hair would always lay flat.

Are you natural considering relaxing?

If one has enough new growth to safely relax then I don't see an issue. Some people do get more than .5 inch a month, so it may be feasible. But, generally speaking, that's not necessary.

My sister used to do this. I am not sure if she do.
She has hair that is thick MBL.
She says that her hair grows an inch a month.
I think my sister is the exception to the rule because I think that is risky to do.

NO NO NO it's not me... I'm just considering relaxing but I have friends who are "cosmetologist" and they do it smh they have the whole I can't tell them nothing
so I was hoping for proof that relaxing once new growth comes in isn't good
2 do every 3-4 weeks one does every 2 weeks

Every two weeks?! What is she relaxing?!!??

I used to get relaxers about that often. My hair was thick and full. It's not necessary and I dont do that anymore

When I was relaxed I got touch ups that often because my back would revert and if I didn't relax it, it would break. Even with all I know now and what I have read on LHCF, I'm not sure I would know how to stretch the back without having it break. I know I could stretch the rest but that hair in the last 2 sections :nono:, that's some foreign stuff there. Didn't want to but just couldn't figure out another way.

But fortunately now I'm natural and I don't have to think about it.

Are these ppl taking hair growth supplements? I've been taking MSM and although I relaxed June 22, I look like I've been stretching for months. I have so much new growth that I have to do a heavy detangling every few days or it knots and breaks. I can't even wrap this mess...

It goes to show that everyone's hair is different and one person can't expect the same outcome as another. My friend relaxes her hair every month, maintains it at neck length by choice and its beautiful. She has thick hair that can handle abuse. Me on the other hand must wait at least 7 weeks before relaxing or risk over-processing.

My boss relaxes every 4 weeks. Her stylist is excellent (well, I go too her to when I can afford it). but yeah, her hair grows like "wildfire".

Its more you may not have enough new growth and overlap thereby overprocessing your hair. I could do every 6 weeks because I clearly see my new growth but since I can manage it I leave it longer between relaxers.

I relaxed this often for years and years prior to my hhj and all it ever got me was thin, broken neck length hair. There's got to be some overlapping going on continuously relaxing this often leading to overprocessing.
