I am planning a home relaxer application in the upcoming weeks, and I need a few tips!
I am switching from No-Lye (super strength Optimum) to Lye, and I have been doing some research, but would like some suggestions.
I have read that it may (or may not!) be good to pull the Lye relaxer through the previously relaxed hair to 'condition' it, for a few minutes. Has anyone had positive (or negative) results from this?
I also have questions about using olive oil in the relaxer. How would this effect the application time?
My last question involves basing the scalp. I have never done this with no-lye relaxers, and I have never experienced burns. Does anyone who uses Lye relaxers at home skip the base? What are the results of doing that?
Any other suggestions are welcome, also!
Thanks!
