Hello everyone this is my first post and I looked at old posts but didn't see the topic. I have bone straight relaxed hair, but when styling I have to use 1850W blow dryer, flat iron and curling iron

. I have vowed to use no heat this summer to help repair my hair

. I wanted to wear my hair in a loose wavy pattern. Does anyone have this type of hair and achieved this look? Also, has anyone tried John Frieda's Ripple Effect, if so did it work for you? One more thing, braiding my hair and letting it dry never comes out right for me.......

Thanks in advance, ladies!! :^)

I have used JF Ripple Effect at least 5 times and my hair comes out crunchy. I do however get a little bit of a wave pattern to it, but I don't think it is worth the crunchiness.

Welcome necy

,

That is exactly what a lot of us are doing this summer in the braidout 24/7 challenge. I posted on it yesterday. I am personally trying it this summer because I want thick, healthy hair. Too much heat is not good because it breaks the hair off

. Why not try braiding your hair again? I do this and my hair comes our wavy (like a curl) and it works for all hair types.

Do a conditioner rinse. That is use conditioner like a shampoo to wash your hair, then follow with a deeper conditioner. Those of us who do this ususually use a cheap conditioner for the first rinse.

Then spray S-curl on you hair and put a leave-in conditioner. Folks here rave about Elasta QP Mango Butter with the S-curl.

Then braid like six cornrows with hair still wet then let dry. Instead of Ripple Effect, try the John Frieda Texture Correcting Serum on your soppping wet hair along with the QP and S-curl. This serum cuts down on the frizz and will give you great results once dry. If you want a looser curl (as I do) braid only five cornrows. Then let completely dry. You won't be disappointed . You will end up with wavy hair.

Also, take your vitamins

, try the Bargello vitamins (do a search on Bargello) because the vits will help your hair grow.

BTW, the Ripple Effect did not work on me (my hair wouldn't curl). And you have to put lots of it on. I would just save my money on that one because I cannot imagine getting a better effect than the cornrows. I tried two different style braid, one was the cornrows and the other hung down like individual braids. I have found that the cornrows give my style a better definition.

Good luck and happy hair growing.

I have 4a and the only way used to get wavy hair was thru braid out and twist outs. But recently when letting my hair air dry I saw it wave up. So I started scrunching my hair with my hand and there was the loose wave I've been looking for. I just scrunch when it's damp (kind of dry but still wet just not soaking.) I tried the John Frieda stuff didn't really work well. Just make sure u use a moisturizer and maybe mousse. I found a new quick hairstyle. It worked for me maybe it will work for u.

Ok, u have a triple threat going on here. Please stick to your plan & avoid the heat. If u find that u can't avoid all three at once, then at least try to cut out the curling iron then the blow dryer, or at least blow dry on a cool setting (I've never used a flat iron

). U can do it... believe me, u can. U just have to commit to it. I haven't used my blow dryer nor curling iron in 9 mths, keeping in mind that I used to "hot curl" with hardening gel / spritz everyday.

Do u know how to rollerset? I found it so much easier to transition off blow drying & hot curling by just rollersetting. I achieved the same look with this healthier method. In fact, rollersetting was more convenient because I only had to do it once per week (I had to hot curl everyday).

Now on to "wavy" hair.... definitely, braid out or twist outs are the key. I know that u have already stated having undesirable results with braid outs... but believe me, u can achieve it. It's really easy. The most difficult part is finding the right type of products suitable for your hair. I have pics in my album showing how I "braid" and "twist" for both styles. (Apr & May's albums).

Definitely take Chichi's advice & join the "Braidout Challenge". We'll keep u encouraged
