relaxed hair care products?

The Redken All-Soft line is really good, along with Keracare and Elucence. General tips are keeping the ends moisturized and protected, wrapping the hair up at night, sleeping on a satin or silk pillowcase and not using so many products on the hair. Your diet should include a lot of water, fish and nuts. Some of us (including myself) take vitamins for healthier hair, but it's totally up to you. I'm sure others will add their comments soon.

Keracare, Elucence, Design Essentials, and Bumble and Bumble are all good product lines to consider. And like 19sweetie stated using the satin pillowcase or bonnet will help also. I keep my ends moisturized and my stylist only trims as necessary. Washing the hair on a weekly basis helps vice waiting for two weeks. Good luck with your hair journey. MissB

I agree with everything the ladies have said thus far but also remember that there a lot of products that are not formulated for relaxed hair but work really well for instance I love the new Dove line of shampoos and conditioners. I think trial and error will help you find out what works for your relaxed hair. Other than what has already been mentioned I would say keeping heat to a minimum, keep manipulation of hair to a minimum, wide tooth comb, be careful with brushing, and basically living a healthy lifestyle (diet, exercise etc.).

For me the products that have always worked well are:

Olive Oil

Pink Oil Moisturizer

Pantene Conditioners

Dark and Lovely Cholesterol

Cream of Nature Shampoo

Dove conditioner

Herbal Essences conditioner

Staying away from heat

Mixing my conditioners with oil

Wearing protective styles

Airdrying

Applying a leave in (such as Pantene or VO5 Detangle and Shine)

Wearing protective styles to bed (I wear mine in a loose braid)

Getting trims when NEEDED

Using ammonia free hair color (try to stay away from bleach)

Hot Oil Treatments

tried and true methods (for me) for healthy hair:
-coconut oil
-air drying
-condition EVERY time you wash (depending on the frequency that u wash ur hair)
-wrapping
-wash, condition, leave in cond.,seal in with natural oils
-I love elasta qp products i use the h-two, mango butter, and creme conditioning shampoo.

I've used Kera Care and Design Essentials products with great results. In terms of general tips, I'd suggest reading the books "Hair Rules" and "Brown Skin" which offer wonderful advice on healthy hair care for all types, but also have special sections on relaxed hair care.

A few of the tips from "Hair Rules" are as follows:

-"Hair relaxed straight should be shampooed once a week,
deep conditioned, and wet set."

-"Treat your scalp after every touch-up or chemical service
with essential oils such as comfrey, peppermint, tea tree,
or horsetail. Their soothing, astringent properties are a
great boost to your hair and scalp's general well being."

-"For the regular styling of relaxed hair, the author recommends wet setting (roller setting on smooth magnetic
rollers), wrapping the hair, or blowdrying on low to medium heat only."

-Finally, "For all chemically straightened or texturized hair, it's best to sleep in a satin (or silk) scarf or on a satin pillowcase."

I regularly use Deep Brilliance, Kenra, Pantene, and Nexxus products. I also swear by Sta-sof-fro once the new growth becomes UNRULY.

Things that have contributed it the health of my hair:

Less heat
Airdrying
washing more frequently
conditioner washes
keeping hair moisturized

I really like the Pantene R&N cream moisturizer!

I like Keracare, Jasons, Profectiv products. I also use jojoba oil everyday, it makes my hair soft and shiny, but not greasy.

Anything with lots of slip. Keracare,Profective, oils,R&N,Nexxus
MOISTURE MOISTURE MOISTURE.
Protein- Aubrey GPB,Joico K Pak, Aphogee every 2 months.
Airdrying to some extent! I think I have to start blowdrying a little more to reduce tangles which lead to breakage.

I love the Nexxus line mainly the Botanoil (it's made for relaxed hair), Humectress Moisturizing Conditioner, Keraphix Reconstructor, Headress Leave-in.
My regime is listed under "About Me" on the left of my pic album.
