My blowdryer finally died on me a couple of weeks ago and I had been using one I bought with a gift certificate I got for Xmas years ago from one of the managers at my job. I rarely used it because it wouldn't even get hot, so I made a mental note to myself to get a new one like yesterday!

Today I bought a Curlmaster 1600 blowdryer and a Curlmaster ceramic flatiron. I admit the flatiron was sort of an impulse buy (only $30) because I wanted to see how it would work on my hair, if at all. Because I couldn't wait until my next wash (I just washed my hair yesterday), I sectioned off a part of my hair and shampooed it to clean off the hair product I use (yes, I know it sounds crazy /images/graemlins/crazy.gif, but I just HAD to try the gadgets out).

I wish I'd gone ahead and done my whole head. /images/graemlins/shocked.gif My old blowdryer didn't have a pic attachment, but my new one does and I was pleasantly surprised by the difference. You would think I went out and got my hair relaxed again. /images/graemlins/ooo.gif I tried out the flatiron, with the setting on 1 (lowest setting) and it worked perfectly. I actually wouldn't really need to flatiron. I could blowdry and put some Pink Oil Moisturizer or Carrot Oil on it and that would be enough to give it that "relaxed" look. Flatironing it would merely make it look poker straight.

If I could make this work with my workout routine, I just might not to go back to a relaxer. I could rock an afro one day and blowdry it straight the next if I want to. I think I'll postpone my trip back to the relaxer just a tad bit longer.

that will be cool! how often do u relax now? maybe u can just on the extend the relaxer challenge! /images/graemlins/wink.gif waiting to relax has been beneficial to me! /images/graemlins/smile.gif

My last relaxer was in July (I think..lol). I wasn't trying to stretch it; my intention was to transition from using chemicals altogether and just press it (or perhaps just blowdry it now) myself when I want it straight. If I was sure I wouldn't botch it, I would gradually clip off the permed hair myself until it's all gone.

My initial concern was blowdrying my hair more than once or twice a week if I went natural, considering how much I work out. Then it occurred to me that I would still blowdry a bit more often even if it was relaxed. I guess the key for me is making sure I keep it moisturized and conditioned and do what I can to protect it from the heat. Luckily I always use a low setting and blowdrying my hair only takes about 10 minutes.
