When you have "hair day", what is your regimen?
I dont mean the everyday thing but the TREATMENT you do on that day.

Haha! I just wrote a huge long blog post on this very thing on Nappydelphia - take a look - it's a lil.... busy.

How cool! I was thinking about posting a blog about it on my own site :drunk:

I'll go check it out.

One week before and after relaxer: prepoo, neutralize, shampoo, Aphogee or Emergencee Protein, DC

Moisture treatments: prepoo, shampoo (sometimes), DC

Protein treatmeants: prepoo with the actual protein, shampoo, DC

Most times I sit under dryer for DC, not always. Clarify as needed. Products and full regi are in my fotki journal.

On my "hair day" I do a serious moisturizing & softening treatment. The fun part is mixing up the ingredients for my DC. The least fun part is detangling (when I do detangle).

1. Wash
2. DC with TREATMENT (LustraSilk Shea, honey, molasses, EVOO, coconut oil)
3. Detangle in sections

Special Day: Once every two months (about to make it once a month maybe)Semiperm hair color rinse, (use to relax), protein treatment, ACV treatment, Hot oil, Deepconditon, Clarify.---When i get to my goal i'll add a trim to this, Staighten

1. Clarify
2. Protein treatment, Hair Color---Plastic Bag
3. Moisturizing Shampoo
4. Deepconditon + Hot Oil
5. ACV Rinse
6. Dry---Flatiron
7. (Future)--Trim.

Regualr days i just--Moisturizing shampoo, Deepconditon, Oil, Airdry in braids or bantu knots.---then moisturize later.

I wash once a week, and I usually follow these steps:

1. Add a hair treatment to dry hair--oil, conditioner of some kind, Aveda Sap Moss Nourishing Treatment, etc. Leave in for roughly an hour. (This is technically a prepoo, but I've been doing this for quite a while before I even heard that word :lachen: .)

2. Shampoo (at the sink) with whatever shampoo I'm using, usually a moisturizing formula.

3. Squeeze out moisture with a towel--no rubbing. Add deep conditioner to damp hair. Sometimes I mix it with oil(s) and molasses and/or honey, sometimes not. Leave on for another hour.

4. Hop in the shower and rinse out the leave-in with warm water. Add a rinse out conditioner. (A stylist told me that it was important to do a rinse out after a treatment, since a treatment was not a conditioner.) Leave in the rinse out while I shower, then rinse that out with warm water. Sometimes I do a cool water rinse--I take a gallon jug and add a few drops each of rosemary, peppermint, lavender, and ylang ylang EOs, and then fill the jug with cool water--and use that as my final rinse. Lately I haven't been bothering with that last step.

5. Hop out of the shower, wrap a towel around my head, squeeze out the excess water. My hair is usually in 4 sections at this point. I take each section, divide in two, and add my moisturizer, and then seal with either coconut oil or avocado butter. Braid that section to get it out of the way, and move to the next. Let air dry, then I can put in my twists the next day once my hair is dry and stretched.

I finally broke down and bought a Denman, and it is a blessing. I run through my hair once with the shower comb, then I follow up with the brush. It just slides right through (I use plenty of slippery conditioner to help). I never thought detangling could ever be so easy.

1)Pre poo with Nadia for Jehan Pre Poo Oil

2)Shampoo with J/A/S/O/N Sea Kelp poo, lather once and only on the scalp

3)Deep condition for an hour with steam

4)Rollerset

On regular days I either dc without the steam, or just use a quickie conditioner and throw my hair back in a bun or twist

What brands conditioners do you use to deep condition your hair?

Girl, I'm so scared to try the Denman. Maybe I need to get over that. LOL. What type did you buy?

I was scared too! I've been natural since June 2003 with various lengths of hair, and I finally got one 2 or 3 weeks ago. Then I was mad at myself for not getting one sooner. :lachen: I have the D3.

Thanks girl

Right now I'm using all of the conditioners from shescentit. The fortifying hair mask is so great! It's become one of my favorite conditioners EVER! I've also been using Silk Elements Cholesterol and Dove Advanced Care, at least I think that's what it's called. It's in a dark blue bottle :yep:
