I'm switching back to no-lye next time I relax, and want to know what other no-lye users think is the best. I used to use Dark and Lovely regular. I'm thinking of trying another one because I got a lot of breakage.
Criteria:
- gets hair straight, no underprocessing
- minimal breakage
- no/minimal scalp burning

TIA

You might want to try Phyto. There is absolutely positively no scalp burning. My hair was straight and I have 4 a/b hair. I had some tangling and breakage but I am sure it was b/c of Surge.

Do a search for phyto. I currently use Mizani Sensitive Scalp (very straight and zero burning) but I am giving phyto a go in a week or so.

I recently tried a new no-lye relaxer called “Optimum Care” by Soft Sheen Carson (box-relaxer) for my last touch up. I really liked this relaxer because I wasn’t going for a bone straight look and decided to only leave it on for a few minutes to texturize my hair. It worked great! Also, the only reason why I picked it up was because the box advertised something I’d never seen a box perm do... condition your hair while relaxing it. I don’t mean a conditioning relaxer, I mean a conditioner that you put on your hair first, and then apply a relaxer on top of it. It was all apart of their Anti-breakage system. The conditioner was a Hi-Protech Pretreatment which is meant to reduce the possibility of damage. I’m pretty sure there are better no-lye relaxers out there, but I give this one 2 thumps up!:up:

Soft and Beautiful (box perm). Its done well by me. No burning or breakage and it straightens my hair in the allotted time. I tried Affirm and my hair was NOT straight. I've also used the botancials version of this product with good results.

epitomi sensative scalp worked very well for me. absolutely no burning like i usually get..
