Help! My hair line is receding and I don't know what to do. What products can help with this problem?

Thanks

-Nioxin, Surge and MTG have helped me increase my hairline when it looks sparse. Plus make sure that your ponytails aren't pulled too tight and that you're hairline is kept clean. Sebum buildup, heavy oils, plastics or polymers in your styling products (i.e. gel, heavy grease) can inhibit hair growth in the hairline area, by plugging your hair folicles.

Is this something that is common in your family? Is it breakage from braids or some other kind of stress? I am just trying to see if it is something medical or something that you may have done to the hair because that could impact how you approach the problem.

Yes you may want to get a check up and make sure there are no hormonal changes going on too. Also have you been wearing tight hairstyles like overlytight braids buns, ponytails etc...
ITA w/ the ladies nioxin, surge, MTG are all excellent products to thicken hair in general if you have no health problems they should work by themselves. hth

is it actually receding or is it just broken off? If it's just broken off then it's probaby some maintenance problems, but if its receding (balding and being pushed back) you better see a dr. because it may be something serious! I'm sorry to hear this! Don't stress too much just look into it because it may be a tight pony tail or something!

My hairline looked like it was receeding too till I stretched out my relaxer...could it be it's overprocessed?

I agree with everyone. I can attest for the tight ponytail being a culprit of a broken hairline. The question is it your hairline all over or broken hairs, someone else asked. I have a slight receding hairline only on my temples, but MTG and Surge have fattened that up. I think my temples are hereditary because my cousin has it too. You should look into that too. But those products have thickened my hair otherwise. GL

This is not common to my family and it is not from braids. I have thick hair and I noticed that my hair was thinning I started using ORS temple balm which didn't work. I went to the doctor and she said that there is nothing wrong with me medically.

At the present moment I have a receding hairline and cow licks.

I must admit I wear my hair in a pony tail everyday but it is not tight. I just relaxed my hair yesterday and have cut the front so that I can wear it out.

You mentioned three products which one is best one to use?

You used both MTG and Surge at the same time?

i have a coworker who has a hair that starts at her ear... it grossed me out when i first saw it... she says it runs it a lot of black families...now, i have never seen this on a black person in my life, unless it was from frequently wearing tight braids. i was like, "excuse me, did you forget that i am black?"

a distant aunt of mine used castor oil mixed with vitamin e and it helped her hair to grow in some of the sparser areas of her scalp....

When are you applying the relaxer to your front hairline area during application time? and how long do you leave it on that area? that may be the culprit, maybe you shouldn't relax that area for awhile and do some Surge or MTG applications, plus add some daily massages to that area a few times a day.

Try different combing and moisturizing techniques. Combing the front forward is a start. I am imagining a weaker hairline from years of stress in that area (ponytails, relaxers, product buildup etc.)
