CNN @ work says that hair stylist positions are recession proof......

I don't think they talked to the sisters at LHCF!!!!!!
If they depended on me - sistas would Quickly be out of work!!!!

Weigh in! What do you think?

The man is right. Some people will go without paying their bills but their hair has to be on point. Also some people are just never going to learn to do their hair themselves. Stylists will be around for ever

after seeing all those teachers being laid off in california, i'm not so sure i believe there is such thing as a "recession proof job"...

I think the recession proof jobs are funeral directors and medical examiners. If you're one of the head people in those professions. Folks are always dying.

As for hair stylist. I think some people will stretch things out regardless if times get tough. I go to my stylist four times a year for a relaxer because I don't want to pay more than that. She tries to get me to come in more though. I wouldn't be suprised if her other more regular clients stretch things out an extra week or two here and there to save a few dollars.

I agree....

I believe it. We are gonna get our hair and nails done no matter how bad things get:yep:.

I guess generally yep - I have learned to do alot myself though - So I am OUT!:drunk: Like I said - if they depended on me - They would close their doors....

hmmm i dont know....

Maybe because the more stylist the owner of the shop has, the more money she gets because of monthly rent thing?

If thats the case, i guess that can be accurate...the stylist might make alot less money, but they still have a job.
There are still going to be some peopel that can afford or sacrifice going to the salon...so the stylist is still making more than someone who has completly lost their job.
